Hiro Mashima’s Edens Zero manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine under the Shōnen Magazine Comics imprint. The series began serialization in 2018 and has amassed 18 tankōbon volumes throughout its run so far, with the latest volume having released in Japan this past November.

The anime adaptation is handled by J.C.Staff, with the late Yūji Suzuki (Fairy Tail, Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold) directing and Shinji Ishihira (Talentless Nana, Fairy Tail) serving as chief director. Mitsutaka Hirota (Pokemon: Origins, Persona 4 the Animation) handles the series composition while composer Yoshihisa Hirano (Hunter × Hunter, Beyblade) handled the score.

Konami announced that two separate game adaptations are currently in development during a Tokyo Game Show 2020 live stream. Both games are action RPGs, with one being a 3D title for consoles and the other a top-down-style game for mobile devices. Mashima announced that he is currently working on his own game adaptation in his free time. The project is being made with the RPG Maker software and will be released as a free game sometime this year.

Mashima is best known for his Fairy Tail manga series which ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 2006-2017. The series amassed 63 tankōbon volumes throughout its run, and inspired a myriad of video game adaptations, a long-running anime, 9 OVA episodes, two anime films, and a sequel manga; Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which is illustrated by Atsuo Ueda.

Kodansha USA licenses the Edens Zero and Fairy Tail, and Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga in English. Funimation licences the Fairy Tail anime in English, while Netflix owns the streaming rights to the Edens Zero anime.
