DC is set to host its massive DC Fandome event on August 22, where it is expected to showcase its upcoming slate of films, animated works, comics, and video games. And it's now been confirmed that Mortal Kombat and Injustice game director Ed Boon will be featured at DC FanDome, sparking speculation that the event may have a big announcement of some kind from Boon's NetherRealm Studios.

The DC FanDome trailer already features Baraka in his Killer Croc skin, so fans have already been anticipating some kind of NetherRealm announcement at the show. As it stands, there are three theories that seem to be the most likely. One, it's possible that new Mortal Kombat 11 skins based on DC Comics characters will be announced. Two, it's possible that brand new Mortal Kombat 11 characters will be revealed. And three, it's possible that the event will be used to announce Injustice 3.

Injustice 3 has been rumored to be NetherRealm's next game for quite some time, and in fact, a new Injustice comic book series has already been announced. It's quite possible that the new comic will tie-in directly with the new game, though fans should keep their expectations in check. Boon may be featured at DC FanDome just to make an appearance instead of making any big video game announcements.

While it's unclear if Ed Boon will make any video game announcements at the DC FanDome event, we do know of at least one game that will be featured. It's been confirmed that Rocksteady Studios' Suicide Squad game will finally be revealed at the show. Rocksteady made the shocking announcement in the early morning hours of August 7, along with an image of Superman with a target on his head.

Another video game that could be revealed at DC FanDome is the new Batman: Arkham game from WB Games Montreal. While not officially confirmed, WB Games Montreal has teased that it has a new Batman: Arkham game in development, and that it will feature the popular Court of Owls storyline from the comic books. Again, nothing has been confirmed, but one has to imagine that the proper reveal will take place at DC FanDome on August 22.

Between the new games based on DC Comics characters and the appearance of Ed Boon (not to mention mega stars like Gal Gadot and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), the DC FanDome event is shaping up to be a monumental show. Here's hoping that it lives up to fan expectations.
