eBay is letting deal seekers get an early start on holiday sales with its pre-Black Friday sale, it seems. eBay Gifts 2018 began November 1 and will run through November 18, offering sales on cell phones, televisions, video games and consoles, as well as unique daily sales for a variety of valuable items. November 5 is the day to watch for gaming-related deals, especially for those looking to acquire a Nintendo Switch over the holidays.
Available now and likely lasting through the entirety of the sale include discounts on Spider-Man on PS4 for $49.99, Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One for $49.99, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for both PS4 and Xbox One for $49.99. There are also deals on a variety of PS4 Slim, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X bundles, though they're not particularly better than normal. Still, for those looking to buy it's a great chance to price compare.
The November 5 Nintendo Switch deal is likely to be the best opportunity for savings, considering it's an official eBay sale and not a marketplace offering. The only negative is that eBay isn't willing to share its price just yet. With the Nintendo Switch currently retailing for $300 and discounts of $20-30 already common, eBay can hopefully offer a sale even better. Odds are that if it's a great deal it will sell out fast, so Nintendo Switch hunters should pay close attention for the sale on November 5.
Black Friday, which lands on November 23 this year, seems to start earlier and earlier every year in the United States. Major retailers including eBay, Amazon, Walmart, and more will litter the weeks ahead of Thanksgiving with sales, followed by another week or few of sales afterward. eBay seems to have gotten the early start this year, pushing Black Friday sales all the way up to November 1. That's hopefully the earliest it can go, though Halloween sales might as well be considered an extension of Black Friday soon enough.
It's important to note that the best sales, particularly for video games and consoles, still tend to arrive on Black Friday itself or in the week prior. If a sale, such as the current eBay sale, doesn't seem like a particularly great deal for something one really wants or need to buy, then just wait a couple of weeks. Odds are there will be an even better deal with a bit of patience. Expect more sales to arrive very soon, as the holiday season is here.
