Amazon Prime Day has grown such a negative reputation that its competitors are now advertising on it, as is the case with eBay's Crash Sale. Starting July 15, eBay will host its own sale event offering "some of the season's top items." The idea is that if or when Amazon's website crashes on Prime Day (like it has in years past), eBay will have an alternative sale for customers to visit.

eBay does have some teases regarding what it plans to offer during the eBay Crash Sale. It describes its discounts as "doorbuster savings" on brands including LG, Apple, Samsung, KitchenAid, Garmin, and others. eBay will offer details on the specific items that will be on sale over the coming week, but it doesn't seem like eBay will be increasing its discounts if Amazon actually crashes.

The eBay Crash Sale is just one part of an ongoing July sales extravaganza that began on July 1 and will run through July 22.  eBay's July 4 sale ran from July 1-7 and offered up to 85% on assorted appliances and equipment. Starting on July 8, eBay will feature two weeks of Hot Deals for Hot Days daily deals on "the hottest tech, smart home devices, home appliances, and more up to 80% off."

Today's eBay Hot Deals for Hot Days include:

  • KitchenAid Nespresso Espresso Maker with Milk Frother - $179.99 (60% off $449.99)
  • Halo 5 Guardians Xbox One Controller - $62.00 (30% off $89.99)
  • TLC 32" Full HD  LED Roku Smart TV - $149.99 (44% off $269.99)

eBay's Crash Sale will take place on the same day as Amazon Prime Day, which runs on both July 15 and July 16. In addition, Amazon is offering Prime Day Launches, which will be a selection of brand new products available solely to Amazon Prime subscribers starting on Prime Day. And Amazon is also offering assorted ways for Amazon Prime subscribers to get free bonus cash, including through using the Amazon App, Amazon Desktop Assistant, or by adding to their Amazon Gift Card Balance.

While eBay has put together a funny and competitive pitch for its Crash Sale, Amazon seems to be one step ahead in terms of the scale of its sale. That's if Amazon doesn't crash, of course.
