When Qui-Gon is near a force-sensitive item for a puzzle or quest, he can sometimes utter the phrase “I have a particular set of skills that will come in handy here.” Fans might recognize this line as a reference to a film called Taken.

Both Star WarsQui-Gon Jinn and Taken’s Bryan Mills are played by Liam Neeson, who has the iconic quote “What I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career.” Traveller’s Tales dedicates a lot of jokes and gags in The Skywalker Saga to fun references.

9 Indiana Jones’ Fedora Cameo

In the first mission of Episode 4: A New Hope, when players reach the part where they can take two paths, they should take the left path. This path lets players build a water gun to put out the fire blocking the path. When you travel along the now fireless path, you can activate a terminal that sends Stormtroopers flying out of the airlock, along with a “blink and you’ll miss it” iconic brown fedora.

This fedora is without a doubt the iconic hat of archeologist and professor, Indiana Jones. Lucasfilm has a longstanding history with Indiana Jones, as he is another franchise under their belt. Not only that but he is played by Star Wars’ Han Solo himself: Harrison Ford.

8 Funny Character Interactions

When pairing unique characters together, sometimes they can have voice lines that directly reference the characters and what they are known for. This is a fun Easter Egg and encourages players to pair up random characters to see if they will have a conversation and include references for die-hard fans.

Such examples have every Sith apprentice of Palpatine getting frustrated at him as he continuously asks them if they have ever heard the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise. Or pair more iconic rivals like Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous to have them recreate the iconic “Hello There!” line.

7 Return Of The Hot Tub Stormtroopers

One of the most iconic characters in the original LEGO Star Wars titles was that of the Stormtroopers chilling in a hot tub. They could be found on a few levels, just enjoying spending time with their Imperial buddies, and soaking in the tub.

The old LEGO Star Wars games are iconic for many reasons, and fans of the old games would recognize the box cover for the games immediately. It’s good to see Traveller’s Tales being proud of their past.

Within the first mission of Episode 4: A New Hope, players can explore the level and find a familiar sight. A box with the cover art of Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy. On Naboo at the edge of Lake Paonga, you can also find the original box art for Lego Star Wars. Lastly, you can find the cover art for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens deep in Maz’s Castle.

Upon arrival at Takodana, players can find a pink plated R2 unit near Maz Kanata’s Castle. To some, R2-KT is just a cute and pink Astro-mech in a game brimming with LEGO characters, but the story behind this R2 unit is a lot sweeter than it seems.

R2-KT was built by the R2 Builders as a gift for a young girl called Katie. The droid was her companion as she battled brain cancer. The droid has appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and partners with charities to make a difference, and can be located on this website.

A fun detail, and a great Easter Egg for LEGO fans, is that some characters have the model number from real life in the game. All characters have the LEGO trademark somewhere on them, mostly under their foot.

Some characters like the B1 Battle Droid have the model number on their arms, and this is present within the game. It’s great attention to detail and shows how much Traveller’s Tales cares about the LEGO and Star Wars brands.

3 Secret Text On Boss Fight Titles

In case you were unaware, the language in Star Wars is different from our own. Although characters speak our language, they write completely differently. Star Wars has its unique writing system known as Aurebesh and is used to transcribe Galactic Basic Standard, which is the words that we hear.

Within The Skywalker Saga, each boss fight has the title card of a boss appear, with what would appear at first glance as gibberish underneath the title. This is Aurebesh and can be translated. For instance, Darth Maul’s boss fight Aurebesh translates to “Red Dude, Bad Attitude.” There are plenty of bosses with fun gags to their sub-titles, like Darth Vader’s rivalry with sand!

2 The Witcher’s Roach Problem

On the planet Kef Bir, you’ll come across a stressed Orbak Keeper, who asks you to help find the missing animals that escaped the pen. The mission is titled Untitled Orbak Game, which in itself is a reference to Untitled Goose Game, but that isn’t the best part.

During this mission, you’ll find an Orbak merrily standing on the straw roof of a structure, just like the iconic glitches that came from The Witcher 3, in which Geralt of Rivia’s faithful companion, his horse, Roach, would sometimes spawn and get stuck on a roof.

1 Obi-Wan Kenobi Learns From Spider-Man

Once players have completed Episode One and Episode Two, they can progress through Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith. Once they reach the mission titled “So Uncivilized”, they can battle General Grievous, and be treated to a fun cutscene upon completion, even if Order 66 and fun do not belong in the same sentence.

This cutscene has Commander Cody and the 212 Clone Batallion hunting for General Kenobi after Order 66 commences. A shot from the cutscene directly references an iconic shot of Sam Raimi’s first Marvel film Spider-Man, in which Peter Parker hides outside the wall of his room with a suspicious Norman Osborne looking around.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
