As many would likely agree, Electronic Arts has had a rough time pleasing the Star Wars fan base, especially when one considers the loot box controversy surrounding 2017's launch of Battlefront 2, which led to the company's stock dropping in value by $3.1 billion. Despite this, it appears as though the publisher plans on forging ahead with another video game inspired by the science fiction property, as a recent job listing suggests that EA is working on an online multiplayer title inspired by the brand.

According to the job listing, Electronic Arts is looking for someone to fill the position of Senior Online Designer to "join an established group of developers working on a AAA Star Wars title in development at EA Vancouver." Not only will the job revolve around helping to execute "the vision for a unique online experience", but also it will require applicants to assist the team in bringing "all connected features with the single-player narrative and gameplay into a cohesive experience".

Considering the language Electronic Arts has used in the job listing's description such as "unique online experience" and "single-player narrative" with the requirement of needing "5+ years of experience working on AAA multiplayer titles or modes", it sounds as if the company is gearing up to produce a multiplayer-esque project in the vein of Destiny. What's more is that the position will involve one to spearhead the "design, execution and tuning of all online game modes, social experiences, and live service features," with the latter two aspects definitely being reminiscent of Activision and Bungie's science fiction shooter franchise.

For those unaware, Electronic Arts has previously sought out an applicant to fulfill a somewhat similar role for what appears to be the same Star Wars project, as the company posted a job listing looking for a Lead Online Engineer a couple of months back. Interestingly enough, should the Lead Online Engineer and Senior Online Designer potentially be working on the same game, then it will also contain an open world.

Taking all of this into account, although it hasn't been officially confirmed as much, many have surmised that this particular Star Wars enterprise from Electronic Arts has been borne out of the husk of what once was Visceral Games' single-player title for the sci-fi brand. Unfortunately, the Visceral Games project was cancelled due to it being too linear, and EA eventually shut down the studio entirely, presumably using some of the contents conjured up by the developer for this speculative online multiplayer Star Wars game. Of course, we will simply have to wait and see what Electronic Arts has up its sleeves for future Star Wars games as time marches steadily on.
