It appears many EA-related things are happening in the future and at the moment. Not only is a new Star Wars game releasing soon, but EA games are now returning to Steam and a new Battlefield game is announced to be in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. Furthermore, Apex Legends is said to be getting a version on Xbox Scarlett and PS5.

With Apex Legends' massive success, this makes a lot of sense. In a recent conference regarding EA's financial earnings, the company's CFO, Blake Jorgensen, said that Apex Legends will be coming to next-gen consoles Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5 as a result of the Titanfall spinoff's great success on current platforms. It is currently unknown what the release date for Apex Legends will be on either platform other than a confirmed 2020 window. However, a release at the launch of the consoles would not be very surprising.

Aside from the Apex Legends port, a new Battlefield installment was announced. The Battlefield game will be coming during the fiscal year of 2022.

Regarding Apex Legends coming to new consoles, it makes complete and total sense for EA to make the port. As an apparently very popular and profitable game, making it available on Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5 will allow EA to cash in on the product a second time around. The game wisely utilizes Titanfall's well-liked FPS mechanics and implements the free-to-play model to great effect.

This begs the question of what other games will be ported to next-gen consoles. This includes games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battleground and other console battle royale titles. Similarly, it's worth asking whether delayed games like The Last of Us 2 will receive a port on PS5. There is reason to believe so, given the first game's port to PlayStation 4 earlier this generation. However, only time will tell what other games of this generation get ported to the next generation of consoles.

Currently, Apex Legends is near the end of a Halloween event involving a number of new weapon skins and other cosmetic items. The event goes until November 5th, so players should partake in the event while they can to reap the benefits.

Apex Legends is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
