Although E3 usually hails as the biggest gaming event of the Summer, bringing together the most revered publishers, studios, and press to unveil the latest and greatest projects from across the games industry, this year will be quite different. While the likes of Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Capcom, and Square Enix are all slated to make an appearance at the convention, some of the industry's biggest publishers seemingly won't be joining the fray, including EA.

Today, EA confirmed that it will be holding its own showcase later this Summer, revealing on Twitter that there will be an EA Play Live broadcast taking place on July 22. The event will come a full month after E3's array of presentations, with the digital convention running from June 12 to June 15.

The tweet didn't tease any further news on what to expect from the broadcast, although there's a fair amount for the publisher to cover. As the company does every year, it's likely to spend a good amount of time going over what fans can expect from its annual sports titles this Fall, whether that's FIFA, Madden, NBA, or NHL. The next Need for Speed could also make an appearance, especially after the company delayed the sequel into 2022 earlier this year.

Outside of that, fans will likely get a new glimpse at Dragon Age 4Although it doesn't appear that the game is launching anytime soon, it continues to be a massive project for EA and one fans are hugely invested in. Of course, there's also Battlefield 6which will be revealed next month. The shooter is one of the publisher's flagship franchises and a sure bet to crop up at the showcase, likely with some explosive new gameplay. Meanwhile, Full Circle might provide more details on the highly-anticipated Skate 4, although EA could hold off seeing as the game is currently very early into development.

Regardless, EA has a lot to discuss, and players can look forward to hearing more in just two months' time. As for E3, the event is quickly gathering an array of significant names, with it seeming as though the annual convention is coming back in a big way. Last year, the show was canceled due to the onset of the pandemic, with the regular showcases being replaced by Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest. It'll be interesting to see how it fares in a digital format, especially with a growing roster of big-name publishers backing it.

EA Play Live will take place on July 22.
