EA has been throwing punches at Activision's Modern Warfare 2 for a while now with claims that their DICE studio's new Battlefield: Bad Company 2 would keep dedicated servers for PC gamers, valuing them and the importance of PC gameplay and customization.

Now they're trying to throw the full one-two punch with one being the release of the newest Battlefield installment...

On Friday, the headmaster of the European division of EA, Jens Uwe, spoke to MCV and said the following:

"In March we will launch Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is our first strong attack on Call Of Duty... The shooter space is one we don't want to give up. It's an important genre and we were the number one. So we are certainly working on how we can get that crown back and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an important product in that context."

All of us who've played both the first Bad Company and the Modern Warfare titles know the games are very different in style and gunplay but we also recently found out that DICE is making some changes including making enemies much easier to kill to fall in line with the more run-and-gun style of Modern Warfare.

I prefer the PC version of Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 more than I do the Bad Company games and I don't think the latest one stands a chance against Infinity Ward's recent record-breaking numbers but I'm still very excited to play it.

That being said, part two of the assault against Modern Warfare 2 is of course with the reinvention of Medal of Honor which takes that series into modern combat as well. I hold high hopes for that but it's been a few years since the last release in the series so it'll be an uphill battle to compete.
