Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate has been recently announced for the upcoming PlayStation VR2 as a launch title. Originally released episodically last year for Oculus Meta Quest 2, the murder mystery game coming to PlayStation VR2 is an adventure that offers a first-person view and a difficult investigation to discover a murderer in a sci-fi setting.

Developed by MyDearest and IzanagiGames, the title will interest people who love games like the Danganronpa series due to its murder-mystery themes and similar exploration. Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate is divided into three chapters: the first one is called False Awakening, the second is The Eleventh Hour, and the third part is still unnamed and unreleased at the time of this report.

Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate will be one of the launch titles of the upcoming PlayStation VR2. The story of the game focuses on a detective living in a futuristic city known as Astrum Close, which is one of the last human safe havens after mankind has been almost destroyed. This city has incredibly low crime rates due to technology that predicts crimes. However, the peace of Astrum Close is disrupted when Albert Rumford, its founder, is found dead. The player, controlling a man named Hal Scion, will use special abilities to see into the past and solve the theoretically impossible crime.

Gameplay-wise, Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate is essentially a first-person interactive story with a few stealth segments, puzzles, and mini-games. Despite having a few stealth parts, the focus is neither on that nor in the action, but on gathering clues and using them to solve the mystery instead. So, gamers who want to focus on stealth should probably look elsewhere. One of the unique mechanics available to players is past manipulation. With that, the protagonist is able to essentially travel in time and relieve scenes, which will help the player to get new insights about the murder and find new clues.

As one of the launch titles of the upcoming PlayStation VR2, Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate comes with a bit of hype attached to it. The new Sony hardware will also release on February 22. The PSVR2 will come with many features, such as a 4K HDR display, new technology for headphones, and a field of vision of 110, more than the 100 of the previous PSVR. However, the new gadget won’t be backward compatible with the original PlayStation VR, which is disappointing to many fans who may want a larger selection of games. So, it will be in a dire need of unique, interesting titles to convince gamers to buy it on launch.

Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate is already available for Oculus Meta Quest 2. It will be out for PlayStation VR2 on February, 22, and will get a third chapter and a Nintendo Switch release sometime during 2023.
