Dying Light's Hellraid DLC initially launched back in August last year, bringing Techland's canceled fantasy title back to life as a new addition to the long-running zombie game. Feedback was mixed at the time, although many praised it for being a fun change of pace from the undead-massacring open-world action that dominated Dying Light's main campaign.

For those who got a kick out of Hellraid's gothic-fantasy switch-up, Techland recently announced that they'll be getting more of it, with a new trailer posted on the franchise's official YouTube channel announcing The Prisoner. The new slice of content will add fresh story missions to the Hellraid expansion and will be available free of charge via an update launching today on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

According to the clip's description, the add-on will offer "new challenges to face, new areas to discover, and an ally who needs your help," as players wade into an ancient conflict in the Ba’al’s Temple. They'll be tasked with finding a character named Lucius and helping him fight the Anat, netting themselves a powerful new bow known as Corrupted Justice in the process. It seems this update will be the first of many, with Techland promising to add more quests to the storyline in subsequent Dying Light updates.

It'll also offer changes to Raid Mode, including gameplay and visual improvements, while a new shield-toting skeleton enemy will join the fray. Beating the latter might even reward players with a new weapon if they're lucky, with the foe dropping a newly-added two-handed hammer called the Bonecruncher. If players can't manage to find the brutal addition to the game's arsenal, they can also unlock it by reaching the new Vanquisher rank. The DLC looks to be a solid bit of extra fun for Dying Light fans and another reason to boot up last year's Hellraid expansion.

Dying Light enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to this year, with Dying Light 2 also slated to hit shelves later this fall. The long-awaited sequel recently got a major showcase over on Twitch, with Techland revealing its combat, free running, main factions, moral choice system, and much more. The stream also talked heavily about the game's story, revealing that new protagonist Aiden Caldwell will have a checkered past, forcing him to venture to The City in search of answers. Along the way, he'll run into an array of groups vying for the game's zombie-infested streets, including an army of former convicts called the Renegades and a group of veteran survivors known as the Nightrunners.

Dying Light is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
