It has been a long and content-filled seven years since Techland released the original Dying Light. Since its release in 2015, the survival horror game has received numerous expansions and repackaged editions featuring a growing list of DLC items. Now at its grand finale, Techland has unveiled Dying Light: Definitive Edition as the capstone to its long-standing zombie game.

Dying Light has been a colossal success for independent Polish game studio Techland. Throughout the past seven years, Dying Light has received wave after wave of DLC packs, routinely expanding the game with new and exciting content. As a result, the zombie shooter has proven consistently popular among fans, even surpassing 20 million units in sales as of 2022. However, with so much content available throughout so many years, Dying Light could be an intimidating game for new and returning players. Techland states that it aims to remedy this issue with the Definitive Edition.

Releasing on June 9, Dying Light: Definitive Edition is the final iteration of Techland’s monolithic survival horror game. Being the ultimate Dying Light package, the Definitive Edition will include the base game and all 26 DLC packs, including every skin bundle and expansion pack to date. To mark the occasion, Techland has also released a free DLC for all owners - the Harran Tactical Unit Bundle - available only for two weeks post-launch. Additionally, every existing owner of Dying Light: Platinum Edition will be automatically upgraded to the Definitive Edition for free.

Dying Light Definitive Edition

Any gamers who have yet to experience Dying Light’s zombie-infested, parkour-heavy city of Harran can take advantage of a steep 70% discount when the game releases later this week. At launch, Dying Light: Definitive Edition will be available digitally on all PlayStation, Xbox, and PC storefronts. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch version of the game will release later this year with both a physical and digital release.

Techland has officially concluded work on Dying Light, releasing its final chapter; however, the studio still has plenty in store for the future. Dying Light 2 has been another massive success for the studio since its launch in February of this year and will likely receive the same level of support that Techland delivered to its predecessor. Looking toward the future, it appears that the Polish developer has its sights set on bigger games outside the realm of parkour and zombies. The studio is actively hiring for an unannounced open-world action RPG set inside a fantasy world. Wherever Techland may go, fans will be eagerly awaiting the studio's next big project.

Dying Light is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
