Although it’s been quite a while since the initial launch of Dying Light, there’s no doubt that the survival-horror title is still considered by many to be one of the scariest video games for PS4 and Xbox One due to its frightening premise of a vicious epidemic turning human beings into rage-filled zombies. Now, however, it looks like the video game developer Techland is preparing to throw its hat in the ring to satisfy the current Battle Royale craze by releasing a new multiplayer venture set in the survival-horror title's world called "Bad Blood."

As seen below in the 10 minutes of gameplay video courtesy of IGN, Dying Light: Bad Blood is set to offer players dynamic online matches that blend PvP and PvE styles of gameplay, while also attempting to retain the core experience of the main game. As requested by fans, this Battle Royale-styled gameplay mode will feature 6 players in competition with one another to acquire loot and weaponry to destroy hives of infected for blood samples, and then catch a ride out of danger on a helicopter.

For those looking forward to Dying Light: Bad Blood , Techland unfortunately hasn't provided an official release date as to when the Battle Royale-styled mode will become available, but the studio has assured fans that it's set to drop at some point in 2018. That said, though, Techland is offering a way for some to try it early by providing a free Global Playtest on Steam, with potential players being able to sign up for selection right here.

All things considered, while Dying Light: Bad Blood should provide a unique spin on the Battle Royale genre, it seems highly unlikely that the mode will manage to dethrone the two leaders in the field, with Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds likely set to maintain peak positions for quite some time. Nevertheless, it's still good to see Techland continuing to provide such sumptuous amounts of free content to those playing the survival-horror game well after its release way back in 2015.

Dying Light is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
