Dying Light 2 is one of the first big video game releases of 2022, setting players loose in an open world full of zombies and other deadly threats. The first Dying Light game impressed many and earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release, and it seems that there are quite a few people looking forward to the sequel as a result.

Dying Light 2 is currently at the top of Steam's wishlists, beating out Elden Ring and a number of other high profile games. The rest of the top five consists of Party Animals, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and the God of War PC port. One could make the argument that Dying Light 2 may be ahead of Elden Ring because Dying Light 2's release date comes first, but it's worth pointing out that God of War will be out before all the aforementioned games and Hollow Knight: Silksong doesn't have a release date at all.

For those who may not have been following the game, Dying Light 2 was first announced at E3 2018 four years ago as part of Microsoft's press conference. Development updates on the game were few and far between after its initial announcement, and there were reports of Dying Light 2 having some development issues. The game was scheduled to launch at the end of 2021, but was delayed to its current February 4 release date.

Dying Light 2 has finished development and developer Techland has been keeping fans hyped by dropping small teases of what they can expect from the game. For example, Techland revealed that Dying Light 2 will have over 500 items for players to equip, and more recently, it showed off Dying Light 2's skill trees. It seems fan can expect to continue receiving these small teases as we get closer to Dying Light 2's launch next month.

It will be interesting to see if more substantial Dying Light 2 trailers are released between now and launch as well. It's entirely possible that Techland will show more Dying Light 2 gameplay footage to further showcase the game before it's released to the masses, but nothing to that effect has been announced.

On paper, it certainly seems as though Dying Light 2 is taking everything people liked about the first game and taking it to the next level, but it remains to be seen if it will achieve those goals in practice. Luckily, Dying Light 2 fans don't have to wait too much longer to find out.

Dying Light 2 launches February 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
