Following numerous delays, Dying Light 2 Stay Human is finally out. Dying Light 2 fans are busy exploring the game world, completing quests, leveling up their version of Aiden, and of course, killing hordes of zombies. Like other open world games, Dying Light 2 is full of Easter eggs, and it even includes one referencing Capcom's Resident Evil franchise. Keep in mind that this post will have some SPOILERS for Dying Light 2.

Resident Evil is hailed as one of the best zombie video game franchises ever, so it's no surprise that Techland decided to reference it in Dying Light 2. The reference comes during the main quest called "Broadcast," where Dying Light 2 protagonist Aiden is tasked with restoring power. At this point in the quest, Aiden comes across a hurt Peacemaker who is named Leon, and that's not a coincidence. While the name "Leon" by itself isn't enough to call something a Resident Evil Easter egg, what happens next certainly seals the deal.

Leon sends Aiden looking for his partner Chris, though Aiden is too late. Chris is already dead and has turned into one of Dying Light 2's zombies. Aiden has no choice but to kill Chris before he can continue his mission, and then players can collect Chris's dogtags. Upon examining the dogtags, players can discover that this Chris from Dying Light 2 is literally named Chris Redfield, the exact same name as the character from the Resident Evil franchise.

Another notable Dying Light 2 Easter egg can be found at the beginning of the game. During the prologue, Dying Light 2 players can find a Dead Island Easter egg in the form of a record called "Who Do You Voodoo?" This is a nod to a song performed by Dead Island character Sam B, but fans shouldn't jump to conclusions and assume this means that the games exist in the same universe. While they were both developed by Techland, Deep Silver has the rights to the Dead Island franchise. As of the time of this writing, it's been 10 years since the release of the original Dead Island and the sequel is still nowhere in sight, unfortunately.

These are far from the only Easter eggs that are hiding in Dying Light 2's open world, but they're some of the more obvious ones. Dying Light 2 players will want to explore the open world thoroughly to find the other Easter eggs that developer Techland may have hidden in the game.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
