Sony's reveal of the DualSense controller came as something of a surprise. The reveal came out of nowhere, though likely as a response to Microsoft's heavy marketing campaign for the Xbox Series X. However, the revamped controller packs quite a few impressive features, and it appears that has a Dying Light 2 developer pretty excited.

Tymon Smektala, the lead game designer for Dying Light 2 developer Techland, offered a fair bit of praise for the controller, citing its "futuristic" design, and believing that it could even be "one of the best in history." It's a big compliment about the refreshed design, which has been a hotbed for new DualSense-related memes ever since its initial reveal.

Smektala also cited the controller's haptic feedback, a key point in Sony's DualSense reveal, as a reason for gamers to get excited about the controller. Smektala believes that the haptic feedback will be "a real game-changer" in the video game world, closing his statement with "for me it's absolutely fantastic." There's been plenty of enthusiasm surrounding next-gen consoles from game developers, with many ready to move to new hardware.

Techland itself has been hard at work on Dying Light 2, the sequel to the zombie parkour game. Dying Light 2 will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X, which means that Smetkala's enthusiasm for the DualSense may get to be put to good use. Haptic feedback on the controller is intended to make game's feel more immersive, and for a zombie-bashing game like Dying Light 2, the idea of what the haptic feedback could achieve is a pretty big draw.

Despite the praise the DualSense has received from the gaming community, fans have been left wanting more. There's been no PS5 console reveal, despite Microsoft revealing the Xbox Series X nearly 6 months ago. That's led to some concern among fans, with rumors circulating that Sony may still be working on the PS5's design.

Still, those claims may be unfounded. There will likely be a PS5 reveal soon, but in the meantime, hearing praise for the controller is the best anyone can ask for. It's one of the most important aspects of a console's draw, so its important to get it right. However, it seems like Sony may have knocked it out of the park on this one.

Dying Light is currently in development.
