Dying Light 2 has now been available for over a month and many players have completed the main story, if not all of its side quests, side content, and trophies, too. Players are already looking toward what's next for Dying Light 2, as Techland has previously promised years of post-launch support. Given Techland's support of the original Dying Light, players are right to set expectations high. While DLC announcements are likely a ways off, Techland did tease one potential looming feature -- new game plus.

New Game Plus mode has been a request from Dying Light 2 players since the game launched. Even before it was reasonable to believe Dying Light 2 had been finished, players were asking for a mode that would allow them to replay the game in a new way. Techland now seems open to the idea, responding to a fan on Twitter who had asked about the feature coming soon. Techland says that it's "seriously considering" adding NG+ to Dying Light 2.

Unfortunately, that's not an official announcement at this point in time. Techland may be serious about the idea, but admits that "it's too early to promise anything yet." That doesn't necessarily mean that Techland isn't working on NG+ right now, nor does it mean that it's far off. All it means is that Techland isn't ready to officially announce anything. That's a decision made separately from social media conversations.

It wouldn't be the first NG+ mode to come to the Dying Light franchise, of course. NG+ was also available in the original Dying Light, allowing players to restart the game's campaign while keeping all of their character's skills, inventory, and more. The only requirement was that players reach 100% story completion before restarting.

NG+ is not associated with a difficulty increase, at least in Dying Light. While some might equate NG+ with upping the difficulty, Dying Light allowed players to select difficulty entirely separate from the state of the campaign's progression. Of course, upping the difficulty to Hard after starting NG+ is one way to make the game that much more exciting.

What Dying Light 2 players can trust is that there's a lot to come for the action-RPG. The original game dropped three substantial DLC packs in 2015, the year of the game's launch. Then, in 2016, it released a standalone expansion The Following alongside a massive enhancement update. The year after, it dropped 10 more content packs expanding Dying Light. NG+ is likely the least of what Dying Light 2 players can expect in 2022 and beyond.

Dying Light 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and will come to Switch on October 19.
