Dying Light 2: Stay Human was first revealed four years ago with a head-turning trailer at Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference. Now the long wait for the open world zombie game sequel is nearly at an end, with Dying Light 2 finally set to launch in less than a month's time. As one might imagine, developer and publisher Techland has been ramping up its marketing for the game, revealing new details about it on its various social media channels.
Recently, the official Dying Light 2 Twitter account made the bold claim that fully completing the game would a staggering 500 hours. Dying Light 2 taking 500 hours to complete everything is quite the claim, especially since it took less than 100 hours for players to complete the original game. In any case, this claim about Dying Light 2's length has caused some confusion, and so the official Twitter has now offered clarification on the matter.
The Dying Light 2 Twitter account has clarified that beating the game's main story will only take about 20 hours, whereas completing the main story and all of Dying Light 2's side quests will take about 80 hours total. However, it will take about 500 hours for Dying Light 2 players to beat the main story, complete all the side quests, experience all the different choices and endings, visit everywhere on the map, discover every piece of dialogue, and find every collectible.
Even though it took gamers less than 100 hours to fully complete the original Dying Light on average, it does make sense that the sequel is going to take a lot longer. Techland has already said that the Dying Light 2 map is four times the size of the original game, meaning players have a truly massive open world to explore when the game comes out next month.
Collecting every item in the game is likely going to take a significant amount of time for Dying Light 2 players as well. It's already been said that Dying Light 2 has over 500 items for players to collect and equip so fans of open world games should be kept plenty busy come launch.
While some may find the sheer amount of content that Dying Light 2: Stay Human claims to have daunting, others don't seem phased by it. In fact, Dying Light 2 is near the top of Steam's wishlists, showing that the long-awaited sequel is highly-anticipated by many regardless of the significant time commitment one will need to make to see absolutely everything that it has to offer.
