Open-world games are often longer than most games in order to occupy their environments with events and objectives for players to tackle. Indeed, Dying Light's window for story completion averages at around 20 hours minimum, for example, while full completion averages at around 80.5 hours.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is set to launch on February 4 and a lot of information has already been transparently shared from developer and publisher Techland. But as big of a game as Dying Light is, it seems as though Dying Light 2 will expand itself much further and players can look forward to a much longer experience with the sequel.

Techland has publicly stated that attempting 100% completion in Dying Light 2 will take no less than 500 hours, which the developer compares to the amount of time it would take to walk from Warsaw to Madrid. This is clearly advertised as a beneficial part of Dying Light 2 and boasts seemingly insurmountable hours of content for players to enjoy when the game releases. Techland does reiterate that this 500-hour completion window refers to 100% completion, as some fans immediately shared concerns about how long it might take to complete the story alone.

It is then clarified that Dying Light 2's main campaign and side quests will take players around 70-80 hours to complete. With its story and side quests taking under 100 hours to finish, that suggests there is allegedly more than 400 hours worth of content for eager completionists to seek out if they so choose. It is ultimately up to players to decide whether they prefer shorter or longer experiences with open-world games, but for those that prefer more longevity to their games may be in for a treat with the amount of content Dying Light 2 is said to have.

Of course, this content may or may not include situations and gameplay that can only be sought after in multiple playthroughs since certain decisions will lock players out from other areas. Dying Light 2's proposed file size on PS5 seems egregiously small for the amount of hours players can log into it, but it may increase after future updates and day-one patches. Time will tell if 500 hours is accurate or hyperbolic for Dying Light 2's full completion, but the game is still shaping up to be one of the biggest title releases this February.

Dying Light 2 launches February 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
