Dying Light 2 is an absolute Parkour playground, with tons of buildings, obstacles, and even enemies for Aiden to use to his advantage. But there are some Parkour sections that can be much more difficult to navigate than others. The windmills scattered around Villedor are a good example, and players will need to climb to the tops of these imposing structures to re-activate them and turn the surrounding area into a safe zone.
One particular windmill can be pretty frustrating, especially for players who are early into their adventure and lack any meaningful upgrades to their Stamina. The Cherry Windmill in Dying Light 2 can be downright punishing thanks to its opening section that requires players to make a series of precise jumps that will deplete their Stamina meter rather quickly. Here's a step-by-step look at how to climb to the top of Cherry Windmill to give players an edge on conquering this Parkour challenge.
How To Climb Cherry Windmill
The first thing players will need to do is find Cherry Windmill on the map. Thankfully, it's pretty easy to spot as it sits close to the intersection where Houndfield, Trinity, and Quarry End meet. The Windmill is technically located in Houndfield and is nearby a massive quarantined (covered in a blue-green plastic shell) building. Once players arrive at the base of Cherry Windmill, they will need to make a series of difficult jumps to reach the first landing of the structure.
Step One
This is easily the hardest part of climbing Cherry Windmill and is very easy to mess up thanks to its reliance on timing and Stamina. It is highly recommended that players don't attempt this particular windmill until they have secured enough Inhibitors to upgrade their Stamina levels a few times. While it is possible to make it to the top with one or two Stamina upgrades, it is significantly harder and requires much more precise timing.
To begin their trek, players will need to first climb up onto the small piece of wood jutting from the bottom of the Windmill wall and then turn so they can see the weight moving up and down on the bars behind them. Once the weight is at the bottom of the bars, players can leap to it and ride it upward. Once it reaches the top of its motion, players can then jump to the yellow board that is pinned against the wall of the windmill.
From there, players need to shimmy along the wall until they are close enough to jump to a nearby metal girder. What makes this particular section so difficult is that all of these motions must be done with one Stamina bar. There is no place for Aiden to rest and regain Stamina and it is very easy to run out of Stamina before making it up the girder to the platform.
Step Two
Once players have conquered the first section, the rest of the Windmill climb is a cakewalk (by comparison). By looking up from where they're standing, players will see another piece of wood jutting downward that they can climb up. Climbing this wood will set them on a path across a narrow beam and to a low-hanging ladder that they can easily jump to.
After climbing the ladder, players will be able to reach the electrical panel of the Windmill and interact with it to get the structure up and running again. From there, players are free to assign it to a Faction of their choice (assuming they are that far in the story) and continue their journey through Villedor with a fancy new Safe Zone.
