Although it was one of the most anticipated open world zombie games in recent history, it only received "generally favorable" reviews, according to Metacritic, though many praised its improved parkour mechanics and incredible visuals. That said, there are fans out there who have got a kick out of the latest entry, and as such, have been hoping for an expansion.
According to a recent report from PCGamesN, Tymon Smektała, lead designer on Dying Light 2, has said that upcoming DLC will take players into new environments, which have their own "traversal challenges." They also said that the team is interested in surprising people, and creating "emotional anticipation." Not much is known about what the new content will consist of, but Smektała's words seem to suggest that fans should be excited about what's coming up, and to perhaps "expect the unexpected".
There's already been some leaked information hidden in the files of Dying Light 2 which gives some idea of what the new story DLC will be. Details within the leak have got many players speculating about the upcoming expansions. However, Smektała has said that, despite what people have been guessing, no one has so far managed to quite nail down exactly what Techland has in the pipeline. What is known is that the first major expansion for the game will be coming in June, with more releases planned for the future.
Dying Light 2 has already seen some cosmetic DLC, which has been offered up for free, but what fans most likely want is some additional content that expands the story of the base game. Given that players generally feel like the main storyline was lacking somewhat by being a bit short, it's understandable that many would be wanting more plat based DLC, and it looks as though the developer is preparing something exciting.
