Dying Light 2: Stay Human is Techland's 2022 sequel to Dying Light and is also a zombie survival game set in an open world with a focus on parkour traversal mechanics and first-person melee combat. Out since February, Dying Light 2 is still a widely popular game, and fans will be excited to engage in the new Bloody Summer Event, which starts today and runs until July 7.
The Bloody Summer Event is "all about carnage and making the streets of the City run red with the blood of your opponents," according to Techland. The event entails players playing the game normally, but with the caveat of rewards being offered specifically for cutting off enemy limbs. So, using the game's paraglider and parkour mechanics will be all the more important as players will benefit from getting from area to area faster in order to increase their rewards.
The Bloody Summer Event comes right on the heels of the new chapter recently added to the game, In The Footsteps of a Nightrunner. This free DLC adds an entirely new story chapter that introduces live-service play options, including daily and weekly missions incentivized by various rewards and upgrades. The Bloody Summer Event adds on to this with more missions and quotas for players to reach, namely the limb-chopping goals, that also offer players various rewards.
The Bloody Summer Event also includes various rewards for players to earn:
- Participation goal: Chop off 1 limb to obtain a Harper’s Token.
- Personal goal: Cut off 300 limbs to obtain a Cutting Edge Axe.
- Global Goal: Together with the entire community — slice off 3,000,000 limbs to obtain the Nightrunner Outfit.
The participation and personal goals are done naturally and players can simply chop off the 1 limb and 300 limbs, respectively, to gain the rewards. In order for players to participate in the Global Goal, they must sign into Techland GG, connect their gaming platform, and click on the "Claim" button on the website.
Free events in games, especially those that involve global goals or communal activities, are great ways for players and fans to come together in the community. Dying Light 2 fans can take advantage of the Bloody Summer Event to unite as a community in order to get the Nightrunner Outfit for everyone.
With the addition of the new story chapter as well as Dying Light 2's new photo mode, the game is seeing a resurgence of play and the addition of many new players. So, adding a new event that brings the community together in the wake of this update is a great idea for the game's fanbase.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is scheduled for release later this year.
