Former WWE wrestler turned all round megastar and professional swell guy Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has shared a look at upcoming Netflix action comedy Red Notice. The image taken on set from the shows the action star dressed in all black staring intently at a black and gold Fabergé egg.
Posting on Instagram, Johnson wrote, "I give you one of the rare and true priceless artifacts to ever exist - Cleopatra’s Egg. Are you sure you want to steal it on my watch? The FBI Profiler. The World’s Most Wanted Art Thief. And the greatest con man the world has never seen. Excited for you to see this movie in 2021 — only on @netflix."
Red Notice refers to the global call put out by Interpol to alert law enforcement world wide to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action. Real life superhero Johnson will be playing the world's greatest tracker on the trail of superhero actors Gal Godot (Wonder Woman) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as the world's greatest art thief and con man respectively. Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy) and Chris Diamantopoulos ( i) will be rounding out the cast.
This will also be the third time that Johnson and writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber have collaborated after Central Intelligence and Skyscraper. Originally Universal Pictures were on board to distribute Red Notice for a Nov 2020 release but after disagreements about the proposed $125-150 million budget, Netflix stepped in and snapped it up.
Gal Gadot also shared several shots taken on set and wrote about the difficulties of filming during a pandemic saying "In order to get back to work during the pandemic, came with a lot of sacrifices especially from our amazing crew. We had to be sequestered 24/7 and only go to and from set. The crew had to be away from their families for several months and they worked their butts off so we can all deliver the best movie possible while keeping everyone safe."
No word yet on a a release date but Red Notice is expected to release in 2021.
