Dwayne Johnson seems to be one of the most collegial stars working today, as eager to promote his work as he is to revel in the successes of those of his competition. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently facing Johnson's Black Adam at the box office, but he offered nothing but support for the MCU project.Johnson took to social media, noting that the MCU had the biggest-ever opening for November, a feat that puts the movie on track to be another crown jewel in the MCU. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opened with an estimated $180 million at the domestic box office.Related: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Dominates Box Office With Best November Opening EverAfter being set on the backfoot with the tragic passing of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, something that set the entire cast and the director on edge, the Black Panther: Wakanda team came roaring back with the stunning tribute to the actor and continuation of the story he began, opening with the highest gross of any movie ever released in November. It’s a stunning debut and one made more because unlike Black Adam, in which Johnson stars, it doesn’t have the lead that cemented the first as one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. It’s such an achievement that even The Rock himself wanted to join in on the celebration.

Black Adam, Johnson's pet project he’s been shepherding for years, opened to mixed reviews, with many critics praising the spectacle. However, fewer of them praise the story of the villainous character, who Johnson eventually wanted to see faceoff with Henry Cavill's Superman, something that seems all the more possible since Cavill has returned to the DC fold as the beloved Kryptonian. The two films also have massively different Rotten Tomatoes scores, with Black Adam currently sitting at 40% (rotten) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sitting at 84% (fresh).

It's still a testament that two films with PoC leads could do so well at the box office, and it’s refreshing to see the competition giving a shout-out where it’s due, especially under the difficult circumstances that the Black Panther sequel was made under. The passing of Boseman will stay with audiences for a long time (it was such that director Ryan Coogler nearly quit movies altogether). The Rock has proven that even though his character, Black Adam, is a villain, he’s far from one as he proved with his congratulations to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now playing in theaters.
