Over the past couple of months, Dwayne Johnson’s social media feed has become the sort of workout inspiration many people need to get in superhero shape. However, through a recent post, Johnson wants everyone to know Black Adam will go to lengths no DC or Marvel hero has gone to before as he continues filming for the movie.
It may be because Black Adam is no hero by any means, but Johnson has been quite keen on taking his dedication and effort for this role to the next level, especially now that he’s no ordinary lifeguard or Fast and Furious superhuman like Vin Diesel. Given the proof provided by the man himself, few would doubt Johnson's ability to get in even better shape, although it’s still debatable as to what kind of Black Adam he’ll be given the one-directional path most of his career has taken him through.
As it turns out, all those carefully planned meals and workout routines are really paying off, with Johnson flaunting his gains while giving an early sneak peek at his Black Adam suit. Johnson used the post to illustrate the movie’s - and his own - massive scale in a set-piece showing the waves of destruction Black Adam can cause in this world of mortals. Furthermore, his definitely non-padded costume verifies he's hitting his fitness goals.
Though it’s unlikely Johnson meant to throw any shade at his fellow DC actors or his Marvel counterparts, the truth is that the MCU’s costumes go through some serious special effects magic before becoming what everyone sees rendered on-screen. Meanwhile, Johnson’s Black Adam suit looks like something made out of pure spandex to fully display his towering physique, as if Teth-Adam needed anything extra to intimidate his foes.
Aside from the photo’s visuals, Johnson captioned the shot reminding everyone that Black Adam is no ordinary superhero because, unlike the good guys, he has no qualms about killing the bad guys. This does open up the question of what age rating Black Adam will eventually get since the character's rather murderous tendencies might initially push him over PG-13, though it’s unlikely Warner Bros. would want to limit the reach of their huge blockbuster.
While Gal Gadot and Chris Hemsworth don’t get the privilege of hiding their physiques beneath padded costumes, the latter might know exactly what The Rock’s life currently looks like. After all, the Thor actor is getting in WWE shape to play the famed Hulk Hogan, adding wrestling god to his very muscular resume.
Black Adam is set to release on July 29, 2022.
