My Hero Academia is easily one of the best shonen series of all time. The show burst onto the scene courtesy of truly excellent writing, action, and — perhaps the most important facet of all — the characters. The characters of My Hero Academia are truly one of a kind. Each and every main player int he story features a wildly unique personality that fans resonate with in some way or another.

Given the imaginative personalities of these characters and their roles in the story, it's no surprise that many of the main characters fit into the classic alignments that feature in the Dungeons & Dragons series. Just like in the famous tabletop game, these alignments inform characters' actions and motivations in My Hero Academia.

10 Izuku Midoriya - Lawful Good

Midoriya from My Hero Academia

The protagonists of most shonen anime tend to be a goody-two-shoes, and Midoriya is no exception to this rule. That being said, his character is likable enough for most viewers to look past his cliched Lawful Good personality.

Thankfully, the power Midoriya holds in the palm of his hands is interesting enough that his one-note personality doesn't become much of an issue. This, coupled with the dynamic he shares with the rest of the cast, makes him an immensely likable character to watch.

9 Katsuki Bakugo - Chaotic Neutral

Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia

Bakugo is easily one of the most entertaining characters in My Hero Academia, in no small part due to his explosive personality and powers. Any fan of the show would understand why he fits the Chaotic Neutral alignment, once they see just how unpredictable his character is.

Bakugo hates to bow down to authority, and always strives to be the loudest and most violent person in the room. That being said, his character does witness some key moments where he's humanized quite a bit. His fight against Midoriya is a massive highlight in this regard.

8 Shoto Todoroki - True Neutral

Todoroki Using Both His Elements At The Same Time

The final member of the power trio in Class 1-A, Shoto Todoroki is an extremely riveting character with a powerful Quirk to boot. Like any True Neutral character, he adheres to his own ideals, regardless of what happens around him.

It's only powerful moments and words — such as his fight against Midoriya — that truly make him introspect and change his mind on issues. Otherwise, he's pretty stubborn when it comes to his beliefs, and remains indifferent to the events happening around him.

7 Ochaco Uraraka - Neutral Good

Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia

The romantic interest of Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka is a decent character in her own right. Still, she desperately needs some screen time that would allows her character to showcase the full extent of her innovative powers.

Kind, warmhearted, and easily amused, Ochaco fits snugly enough in her Neutral Good alignment, which makes for a rather fitting — albeit unremarkable — personality. Perhaps the later seasons of My Hero Academia will explore her personality and motivations even further.

6 Tenya Ida - Lawful Good

Tenya Ida in My Hero Academia

Unlike Uraraka, Ida has actually had some time to develop as a character in the anime. His crowning moment came when he faced off against the man who almost killed his brother, Stain.

Given Ida's insistence in adhering to the rules at all times, it's pretty obvious as to why he falls in the Lawful Good category, an alignment that holds great respect for authority. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing — after all, there's another notable character who shares the same alignment.

5 All Might - Lawful Good

All Might in My Hero Academia

One of the show's most enjoyable characters to watch — courtesy of some excellent character development — is All Might. This former No. 1 Hero always ends up wowing audiences with his never-say-die attitude. His fight against All for One showcases just how brave and powerful this hero really is, the best qualities of the Lawful Good alignment.

While One for All might've disappeared within All Might for good, it's safe to say that he doesn't really need to panic. After all, he did pick a worthy successor, in the form of Izuku Midoriya.

4 Shota Aizawa - Chaotic Good

Aizawa Nullifying A Quirk in My Hero Academia

The homeroom teacher of Class 1-A is quite an enigma. It's clear for all to see that Aizawa is on the side of justice; however, his behavior can be quite erratic at times, like most Chaotic characters. His personality is a wildcard of sorts, which never fails to be entertaining.

In this context, perhaps it is quite a relief that Aizawa's alignment is that of a Chaotic Good character. Given how powerful his Quirk can potentially be, perhaps it's a good thing after all that he doesn't stray too far from the straight and narrow when it comes to his morality, after all.

3 Endeavor - Lawful Neutral

Endeavor Using Hellflame in My Hero Academia

One of the most fascinating characters in the entire series, it's genuinely exciting to see the character development that Endeavor has undergone after becoming the new No. 1 Hero. For the longest time, he seemed like nothing more than an abusive father and a jealous hero. Now, this perception is definitely on the verge of changing.

Fans can only wait and see the role this character will play in the coming seasons. However, given the position he's secured at the very top, it's easy to predict that he's going to play a major part in the things to come. As a leader determined to accomplish his goals, it's only fitting he falls under Lawful Neutral.

2 Tomura Shigaraki - Neutral Evil

Shigaraki Tomura in My Hero Academia

The leader of the League of Villains is a heinous character indeed — and am entertaining one to boot. Everything from Shigaraki's powerful Quirk to his eerie personality makes him quite a compelling villain to watch throughout the show.

As a villain, he falls naturally under an Evil alignment. While he does have an erratic streak that comes out at times, Shigaraki is far from being the most psychotic character in the series. However, he does give the next person on the list a run for her money in this regard.

1 Himiko Toga - Chaotic Evil

Himiko Toga in My Hero Academia

The yandere of My Hero Academia is one of the most lively and unnerving personalities on the show. Toga's obsession with Midoriya — coupled with her disgusting Quirk — makes her the textbook definition of a demonic Chaotic Evil character.

Audiences can only hope that her bloodlust doesn't venture past the realm of pure madness. However, given how disturbing her personality can be at times, it seems that a ton of bloody carnage is written in the stars for her — carnage that she herself is bound to set in motion.
