While the creatures in Dungeons and Dragons usually stick to the realms of imagination, some are bringing a fantasy dragon to life in a beautiful way. To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the roleplaying game, one company decided to sell a beautiful figurine of one of the game's most iconic creatures.

Wizards of the Coast has been bringing some changes to Dungeons and Dragons recently. While the roleplaying game will receive some modifications to the way it portrays race, there has been completely new content for unique D&D adventures as well.

One merchandise company is selling a beautiful figurine that can be used as a life-like prop for a Dungeon Master or as a display in a fan's home. Wizkids is opening up pre-orders for a Sapphire Adult Dragon figure. Although gem dragons may not be as traditional as their chromatic or metallic counterparts, they are still a force to be reckoned with. This specific miniature is based on new art from Wizards of the Coast created for the game's 45th anniversary. The figurine stands at a height of over 160mm tall, a good size for a table-top miniature.

Dungeons and Dragons Sapphire figurine

The Sapphire Dragon has the ability to use psionic attacks, which are not common among typical Dungeons and Dragons enemies. Its psionic powers are even evident in the dragon's design. The tail barbs and horn tips are not connected to the dragon and merely float in place using the creature's psionic abilities, reacting to the Sapphire Dragon's emotions.

However, Sapphire Dragons are like most dragons in that they hoard items such as magical weapons and armor and store them in their lairs' vaults. These hoards can be quite attractive to adventurers, but they will have to fight through these powerful adversaries in order to obtain the treasures within.

While this type of dragon isn't the most common, it may be interesting to come up against one in a D&D campaign. With more D&D manuals from Wizards of the Coast detailing more settings that players could potentially encounter a Sapphire Dragon. When this figurine comes out in August, players may want to see if they have what it takes to take one down.
