It's been quite some time since fans got a real update about Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance, the upcoming game based on the famous RA Salvatore novels. Today, however, Wizards of the Coast and developer Tuque Games finally gave fans something big to chew on, revealing when players can get their hands on the game along with a brand new trailer.

In the trailer, fans get a decent look at some of Dark Alliance's flashy gameplay and combat sequences, all set to a rock and roll backing track. The real meat here, however, is the long-awaited release date for Dark Alliance, with the game set to drop on June 22, 2021, just a few months away. Up until now, June has been a relatively slow month for game releases, so this should come as good news for fans.

In equally exciting news, it's now confirmed that Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance is headed to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, marking yet another game headed to the platforms, for those that have managed to get their hands on one. On top of that, Wizards of the Coast confirmed the price point for the game, which will vary depending on the version players choose.

The Digital Edition of Dark Alliance is available for pre-order at $39.99, with standard, Digital Deluxe, and Steelbook editions – the latter only being available at certain retailers – of the game available for $59.99. Notably, the SteelBook and Digital Deluxe editions of the game include the Echos of the Blood War DLC and a Lich weapon set.

The Dungeons and Dragons franchise is currently breaking more heavily into the video game scene, with eight projects currently in development. Fans only know what a handful of those are, including Baldur's Gate 3, Dark Alliance, and an unnamed open-world Dungeons and Dragons game now confirmed to be in development.

Interestingly, June 22 does have one other triple-a release in Back 4 Blood, the spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead games. That makes it a fairly competitive date, as both games are modeled around a four-player co-op style with highly replayable mission structures. Dark Alliance has the benefit of being a Dungeons and Dragons game, which will likely be more recognizable than Back 4 Blood.

With Dungeons and Dragons:Dark Alliance now just a few months away, fans don't have long to wait until they get to play the game themselves. There have only been a few updates since the game was first revealed, but at least that wait is paying off.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance releases June 22, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
