Based on Frank Herbert's classic novel, Dune: The Sisterhood is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides. The story follows the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit. The series will premiere on HBO Max and serve as a prequel to director Denis Villeneuve's 2021 film Dune and the upcoming sequel Dune: Part Two. Villeneuve was originally set to direct the pilot, which will now be helmed by Renck, along with the second episode of the series.

He was initially slated to write the prequel series but was replaced by Ademu-John last year. Spaihts is currently working on the script for Dune: Part Two, which is expected to be released on October 20, 2023.
