Following a fairly extensive early access period, Media Molecule's powerful new game creation system, Dreams, has finally been released. Indeed, PlayStation 4 owners worldwide are now diving head first into this unique new title, experiencing the ambitious creations of other fans and making their very own dreams a reality. That said, Media Molecule indicates that PS4 owners may not be the only ones that are able to play Dreams moving forward, suggesting that a PS5 port of the game could certainly be in the cards.

At the recent launch event for Dreams in London, VGC spoke with Mark Healey, the game's creative director and a Media Molecule co-founder, about the future of the title. In this conversation, Healey emphasized that Dreams is a creation platform, as opposed to a finite experience, and stated that it would ideally "migrate to whatever is relevant in the future." Certainly, it seems likely that the PS5 is the future for many Sony fans, and thus it makes sense that Media Molecule has its eyes on the forthcoming console.

That said, Healey did note that the PS4 is the developer's primary focus at this time, and he hopes that Dreams might even prolong the lifespan of Sony's extremely-popular console. However, he did suggest that a PS5 version of the game is "an obvious progression," provided that the PS4 release of Dreams proves to be successful.

Healey also took a moment in his conversation with VGC to address the possibility of a Dreams port for PC, which he indicates "would be cool" but is not in development at this time. While some fans might think that Dreams' status as a PS4 exclusive precludes it from ever releasing on PC, the PS4-exclusive Death Stranding recently received a PC release window, and it is thus possible that the same may happen for Dreams in the future.

For now, though, fans have the PS4 version of Dreams to explore, and that is sure to provide players with countless hours of content. Already fans have made some truly incredible creations, including an extremely impressive recreation of The Lord of the Rings' Minas Tirith, using the tools provided by Dreams, and many more will certainly come before any ports of the game are released.
