Dreams has been an interesting experiment for PlayStation, being more of a creation tool than an actual game. Media Molecule, the team behind the LittleBigPlanet series, expressed that Dreams was to be used by players in a variety of different ways. This is an aspect of the game that fans have gravitated toward the most, with projects ranging from small indie games based on other franchises, or even being used by other companies for large scale projects like feature films.

One of the most common uses of Dreams when it comes to the topic of fan-games, however, is translating a franchise dominant on one platform to the PlayStation 4. While companies like Nintendo have been more apprehensive to players creating fan-games in Dreams, evident by cracking down on Mario games with takedown requests, it seems Microsoft is a tad more lenient with franchises from the Xbox library are represented in Dreams, particularly Halo.

One fan project in particular has been quite popular with players since it's unveiling. On Reddit, user DISARMEDPOST posted a work in progress video where they recreated Halo Infinite in Dreams. The post was then re-uploaded to the r/halo subreddit sometime later by user hantar7788, which currently sits at a 95% upvote.

While the video is short and doesn’t offer much in terms of heart-pounding action and spectacle that Halo is typically known for, fans are still taken aback by how incredible the Dreams project looks so far. The photorealistic visuals and accurate depiction of Master Chief’s armor and UNSC rifle are excellently detailed, and appear to be a promising start to where the project can go.

With Dreams also being available to use with PlayStation VR, the opportunities that a feature like this may allow for this project is even more tantalizing. This could allow players to fully immerse themselves in the role of Master Chief fighting the Covenant even more than a standard Halo game if utilized to the fullest potential.

As players continue to rife through the content that Dreams has to offer, along with Halo Infinite having the biggest launch in the franchise’s history, it’s exciting to see these two distinctly different games be combined into a prosperous experience. It may be some time until we see the full potential of this project unfold, but it certainly has the makings of a realistic Halo game thus far.
