Media Molecule's Dreams on the PlayStation 4 is one of the most innovative and greatest tools available on game consoles that encourages creativity from its users. Instead of being a game in its own right, Dreams is a tool that lets aspiring game makers create their own games that they can then share with other players.

The creativity of the community behind Dreams is astonishing, with many fantastic games of varying genres available for its users. As such it can be hard to decide which to play.

10 Art's Dream

Art's Dream is a very ambitious and impressive game, which follows the titular character Art through a musical story that showcases what is possible in dreams--which is almost everything. Players control the main character through the world of surreal escapism in which he must battle through armies of demons to reunite with the other members of his band.

With aesthetically pleasing visuals, an interactive and enjoyable experience, a combat system and hidden prizes players can find, Art's Dream is truly a fantastic example of what can be achieved in Dreams. What's more, the game clocks in around the length of a movie, making it a short and sweet experience players can finish in one sitting.

9 Player Piano Player

Not to be confused with the novel of the same name, Player Piano Player is a game for those who enjoy cowboys and the Wild West, set in a saloon during a shootout, but players aren't going to be doing any shooting themselves, but rather playing some piano to get people in the mood.

In typical rhythm game fashion, players will have to hit the correct notes, with gameplay similar to others in the genre such as Guitar Hero, but they will also need to dodge bullets and other projectiles in order to rake up points and earn a spot on the leaderboard.

8 Ruckus: Just Another Natural Disaster

A large, adorable yellow lizard sits atop a building.

For players who have ever wanted to play as Godzilla but cute, Ruckus: Just Another Natural Disaster fits the bill perfectly. It is the perfect inverse to city-building games, allowing players to raze entire cities to the ground, enacting total destruction while looking like a giant cuddly yellow lizard. While there isn't much story to be found in Ruckus, what makes this game stand out is its totally unique concept and cartoonish, charming graphics.

The gameplay is very simple and ideal for drop in and out play, in which players rack up points in hopes of seeing their name at the top of the leaderboard by unleashing absolute anarchy on serene cityscapes. Perfect for releasing a day's worth of stress.

7 Art Therapy

What could be any more therapeutic than creating beautiful works of art...destroying them! That is the main goal in this Dreams title, Art Therapy, another simple yet effective title in their collection that will undoubtedly help players relieve some tension and blow off some steam.

Players will assume the role of an aspiring artist who has run into an unfortunate hitch in the pursuit of his career as he is rejected multiple times. As part of his quest for revenge, he will break into art galleries, avoid being detected by guards and then smash those priceless works of art into pieces.

6 Southpaw Cooking

Players may remember first-person simulator games like Surgeon Simulator, which tasked the player with completing surgery tasks with extremely challenging controls, often to hilarious effect, and cooking simulator games like Overcooked, a challenging and chaotic cooking game that saw the blood pressure of gamers shoot through the roof.

If those two games combined, it would result in this Dreams title Southpaw Cooking, an excellent and fun yet challenging game that will see players attempting to make recipes while only using one hand. Players will need patience and precision in order to execute their goals, and it is much harder than it sounds.

5 Blade Gunner

As the name suggests, Blade Gunner is one of the more action-packed titles, filled with hordes of enemies and plenty of action for players to enjoy. With a futuristic look to it, the game also has appealing visuals that serve as a gorgeous backdrop to the carnage.

With never-ending waves of foes, players will use guns and explosives to blast their way through them in the hopes of earning themselves a spot on the leaderboard with a new high score. Players can also spend points on upgrades for their weaponry to become even more efficient at mowing down enemies.

4 Kuro: A Shadow's Dream

Beautiful green landscapes as seen in Kuro.

For gamers who enjoy platforming titles, Kuro: A Shadow's Dream might just be the Dreams title for them. Players will assume the role of the titular Kuro, a lonesome ninja who is in search of the Hidden Shuriken.

Players will traverse through the beautiful and picturesque world using platforming game mechanics to go through all four levels. With the full game available, and with it being such a fun and memorable adventure, Dreams users should not overlook Kuro: A Shadow's Dream.

3 Beyond the Nightmare

A dark and desolate kitchen from Beyond the Nightmare.

Horror gamers don't need to feel left out, with some horror titles making their way into Dreams, such as Beyond the Nightmare. Players control the main protagonist Sam who suffers from headaches and hears strange disembodied voices but passes out before he can make his way home, awakening in a strange, unfamiliar place. Sam must unravel the mysteries surrounding his afflictions and how to escape.

Frightening, atmospheric, and still receiving updates from its creator four years after its initial release, Beyond the Nightmare is definitely a game fans of titles such as Silent Hill should check out.

2 MODI: Son of Thor

Modi standing atop a hill, raising up Mjolnir as lightening strikes the hammer.

Gamers shouldn't be fooled by the cutesy art style of this game - MODI: Son of Thor is a game that has pretty high stakes. With Asgard at war and Thor dying, it is down of Thor's son Modi to save the day. Lacking experience and still young, brave Modi doesn't let that stop him as he sets about to save Asgard and his ailing father.

A Dreams title boasting action, adventure, puzzles, and brawling, this might be one of their most interactive and involved titles yet. Fans of Norse mythology and fighting games might not find the same high-quality mastery as God of War, but will still experience a fun and enjoyable adventure.

1 Tales from Dark Town

Example of turn-based combat from Tales of Darktown.

Thanks to the efforts of Tell Tale Games and DONTNOD, episodic games are popular and welcomed by many gamers, and this influence has spread to Dreams in the form of Tales from Dark Town.

Set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world with plenty of cyberpunk flair, players will explore the futuristic, fictional Dark Town. Turn-based combat and RPG elements are all key to this title and its success.
