Dreams Central is a pending social entertainment hub game that is seeking funding on Kickstarter. At the time of this writing, Dreams Central has a little over $800 of its $16,049 goal.

The Kickstarter project launched on November 17, 2021, with the goal of funding the development of a game/social space on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Dreams Central is designed with the goal of being an "ever-expanding" social resort full of private and public spaces, minigames, and other attractions. What makes this project a little more unique than other game Kickstarters is that it's being built entirely in the Dreams development software for PlayStation.

Dreams is a game development software created by Media Molecule. It was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4 and later the PlayStation 5. Similar to Roblox, players are able to create their own content through a robust suite of tools. These can range from assets, models, music, art, to fully-fledged games. These assets can then be shared and imported into other users' creations or games. Thus, entire worlds can be crafted by a talented team of developers and easily shared among all those that have the Dreams software.

Dreams Central is set to be a completely free-to-play game. The developer promises there will be absolutely no microtransactions, premium currencies, or subscription models. If successful, it could serve as a spiritual successor to PlayStation Home. It aspires to be a social space despite Dreams not having online multiplayer functionality at this time. Until then, it will offer a single-player and local multiplayer social space and game center. The team developing Dreams Central promises there will be plenty to do for anyone interested in visiting the resort.

Features

  • Visit the Arcade Lounge to play classic games like billiards, bowling, and air hockey
  • Visit the Sports Arena to play exclusive minigames and "check out various sports"
  • Bounce Nightclub offers a full nightclub experience and offers the competitive "Battleball"
  • Head to the Cinema to watch VR animations and shows made by the community
  • Customize their character with clothes and accessories earned from playing minigames
  • Purchase an apartment and design the interior

There is a lot of content planned for the initial release should it see funding. But, the team has even more plans going forward. In the Kickstarter post, the development team details plans for their very own in-game theme park, Paradise Park. It will host attractions, minigames, and a variety of rides. It's ambitious but promises to have a lot of content for players to enjoy in addition to the already packed base game.

As for the Kickstarter, there are plenty of perks for backing the game including access to a digital artbook, soundtrack, special living quarters, and even being able to design their own customer minigame. The deadline for pledging is 10 am CST on December 17, 2021. There's still a long way to go, but should the right crowd find it, they would potentially have a new place to call home.
