Updated September 13th, 2023 by Paul Woodward: It's been over a year since the Early Access period for Disney Dreamlight Valley began. Over the course of a year, numerous Disney characters were added, and the main story reached its conclusion. Even after Early Access ends, Gameloft still intends to update Disney Dreamlight Valley regularly. While Moonstones were fairly difficult to get at the start of Early Access, that has since changed. Since Moonstones are how players upgrade the current Star Path and purchase optional cosmetics and decorations, they will want to get as many as possible. This guide will cover every way that players can get more Moonstones.

Search For Blue Chests

As players roam around the biomes of Dreamlight Valley, it is common to come across chests that contain clothes and furniture. Aside from that, Disney Dreamlight Valley players will occasionally find a blue chest in one or more biomes every day. If players open the blue chest, they will get 50 Moonstones.

Only one of these blue chests will spawn per day, but if players didn't find and loot it another one will spawn on the following day. So if players have been away from the game for a few days, they can potentially find up to a maximum of three blue chests. Once there are three blue chests, no more will spawn until players have found and looted at least one. These chests will only give players a fixed amount of Moonstones, and it does not change.

The Star Path

One method of acquiring Moonstones in Disney Dreamlight Valley is the Star Path. The Star Path is similar to a Battle Pass in other games, as it provides players with unique cosmetic items that are only available for a limited time.

A good example of one of these Star Paths is the Pixar Fest that launched with Disney Dreamlight Valley when it entered Early Access. As players complete Duties associated with the currently active Star Path, they will be able to choose cosmetic rewards on the pages they have unlocked.

If Disney Dreamlight Valley players use their Moonstones to unlock the premium track of the Star Path, they will be able to choose Moonstones as a reward to purchase with the Star Path currency. This allows players to recuperate Moonstones they used to purchase the premium track of the Star Path. There are also rewards in the Star Path that can only be unlocked if the premium track is purchased with Moonstones.

Purchase Moonstones In-Game

With the third major update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, the main story continued along with new characters added to the valley. Alongside a new Star Path, the option to purchase Moonstones in-game has finally been added as an option. There are several packs of Moonstones that players can choose from, and the prices are as follows.

  • 1,200 Moonstones ($4.99)
  • 2,500 Moonstones ($9.99)
  • 5,500 Moonstones ($19.99)
  • 14,500 Moonstones ($49.99)

Keep in mind that any Moonstones purchased can only be used on the platform that they were purchased on. For example, if players purchase Moonstones on the Xbox Series X they will not be able to use those Moonstones on the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

Participate in DreamSnaps Challenges

DreamSnaps feature in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

In July 2023, an update to Disney Dreamlight Valley added a new feature called DreamSnaps. Every week, players are given a theme and certain criteria for a photo. This includes things like certain kinds of furniture and outfits that match the selected theme. Once all the criteria have been met in a photo, players can submit it, and then it will be voted on by other players. By voting on other submissions, players can earn up to 50 Moonstones per week.

In addition, if a submission does well players can earn a varying amount of Moonstones. The amount earned can be anywhere from a few thousand all the way up to 12,000 Moonstones. While this isn't the most reliable method for getting more Moonstones, it is certainly a good option for players who wish to flex their creativity.

Purchase the Cozy Edition

Recently, Gameloft revealed the Cozy Edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley. This is a physical, retail version of Disney Dreamlight Valley. Not only does it come with physical items like stickers and collectible postcards, but it also has a variety of digital in-game goodies as well. This includes an exclusive sweater, a house style, and 14,500 Moonstones. Even if players have already purchased the Founder's Edition, they can purchase the Cozy Edition for the exclusives and the Moonstones according to the FAQ on Gameloft's website.

Cozy Edition is currently pre-order only, as it will be released on October 27th.

At this time, it is unclear if the Cozy Edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley is a limited-time offering. In addition, Gameloft has yet to clarify if the Founder's Pack will become unavailable to purchase when the Cozy Edition launches. If Gameloft provides confirmation about this, this guide will be updated accordingly.

What Are Moonstones Used For?

While originally Moonstones were used only for the Star Path, the in-game shop is now available. Players can purchase a wide variety of cosmetic items, including the option to have their home look like a castle. Moonstones can still be used to unlock the premium track of the Star Path, and they can also be used to purchase the unique Star Path currency that is used to unlock cosmetic rewards. This allows Disney Dreamlight Valley players to skip the time-consuming Star Path Duties that allow players to get more currency for free.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
