Square Enix has provided further detail regarding the setting of its upcoming Nintendo Switch game Dragon Quest Treasures. The action-adventure game is unique within the Dragon Quest franchise, being not quite a Dragon Quest RPG and not quite Dragon Quest Monsters, either. In Dragon Quest Treasures players will explore a brilliant fantasy world searching for valuable treasures. That's why creating a world players feel at home in is such a priority.Previous announcements surrounding Dragon Quest Treasures has confirmed that it's set in a world named Draconia, composed of a variety of islands. Players have transported to this strange world and will need to make it their new home, building a base and finding a means of transportation between the islands. That's just the start of what will be a grand adventure exploring and discovering treasure across Draconia.RELATED: Dragon Quest Fan Makes Slime Out of WoolAs previously confirmed, Draconia is made up of six islands. These islands make up remnants of two enormous golden dragons, the shapes of which are still recognizable. Square Enix explains that, in addition to Dragon Quest Treasures' central hub island where players will base their operations, the remaining islands each have their own biomes with their own unique peoples and monsters. Exploring these islands will require different tools and equipment to fully discover their secrets.

Island one is the Paternoggin, the two-tiered starting island featuring a run-down factory, forests, caves, and a population of rival Sylphanians. Island two is the Maneland, a desert island requiring a glider to explore safely. The third island of Draconia is Cinderback Ridge, a volcanic island filled with nasty red cacti and pools of lava. Island four is the Wingswept Moors, covered in marshes, swamps, and the towering Mount Greywing. Lastly, the fifth island is the Hinterquarters, covered in ice and snow.

Each of Dragon Quest Treasures' islands will have its own monsters to capture and treasures to discover. It's fair to say each island has separate and unique areas of its own, reached through unique means and with an unlockable flying train station. That should hopefully convey just how large the five islands of Draconia are.

In the end, Dragon Quest Treasures' sky islands are very straightforward and simple in nature. This is a Dragon Quest game, after all. It's intended to be an approachable fantasy franchise. Don't expect Draconia to be as complex and rich of a world to explore as Elden Ring's Lands Between. For what it is, though, it should prove to be an exciting world to visit and a great fit for the Nintendo Switch.
