The Slime is one of the most iconic enemies in the Japanese RPG space, and a dedicated Dragon Quest fan was able to create his own blue Slime out of wool. The blue Slime is regarded as a series mascot, but many other Slime variants exist within the Dragon Quest universe.

Reddit user u/sci_bastian created a blue Slime from Dragon Quest with wool and the needle felting process. The process involves prepping and transforming wool with a barbed needle to create 3D objects such as sculptures. Through repeated needle felting, the wool would begin to loosen its fiber bonds, and the user will be able to sculp the wool into the desired shape. The user utilized the needle felting technique with different colored wool to recreate the popular Dragon Quest mascot.

According to u/sci_bastian, the blue Slime has a rough wool core with felted wool comprising most of the creation. The Slime is naturally squishy due to the needle felting process and remains faithfully to its appearance in the Dragon Quest games. Additionally, the Slime appears to have the dark outline around its smile as shown in Dragon Quest titles. However, the dark outline is a result of the Slime's red and blue wool meeting with an indentation, causing some shadow to appear around the mouth. Nevertheless, the Slime's squishy nature and mouth outline completes the wool creation.

The blue Slime is one of the earliest enemies encountered in the Dragon Quest series with valuable XP to gain from. Slimes appear throughout the course of the game with different variants such as the Metal Slime, Healslime, and King Slime. The Slime family varies slightly in each game, but many remain consistent throughout the Dragon Quest franchise. In fact, Slimes may serve as NPCs with their own unique dialogue and side quests.

The user's wool Slime creation is an impressive one that looks nearly identical to the in-game monster. The quality of the blue Slime may even rival Square Enix's own Slime merchandise from Japan, which includes the popular Slime plush. Further, different colored slimes may be created using the needle felting technique, so there's plenty of room for experimentation.

Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate news is rather scarce, but the Slime will surely return for the next mainline Dragon Quest entry and spinoffs like Dragon Quest Treasures. Players can also encounter the Slime in Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age, the latest mainline entry in the long-running series.
