When Dragon Quest was first introduced in 1986, it was designed to be a simplified version of RPGs like Wizardry or Ultima. Players took control of a lone knight who had to save the world of Alefgard from the likes of the dreaded Dragonlord. Of course, party roles slowly started to be formed with Dragon Quest II and classes were formally introduced in Dragon Quest III. Part of the appeal was the vocation system where players can not only customize their hero but their allies as well. This only got further expanded by the time of Dragon Quest IX.

But which class/vocation would fit a person best if they were judged by their zodiac sign?

12 Aquarius - Armamentalist

Born between the 20th of January to the 18th of February, Aquarius are progressive people. Their eccentricities can be quite interesting and they are often very helpful to have around. Although they can be aloof at times, they will always be there to help their friends when they need it most.

Primarily a long-range class (being one of the few to use the bow,) the Armamentalist vocation allows characters to increase the elemental defence of their friends. They're also independent as they can either help do crowd control or focus on a specific enemy.

11 Pisces - Luminary

Born between the 19th of February and the 20th of March, Pisces are kind zodiac signs that are deeply connected to music. Known for their captivating artistic skills as well as their wise personalities, they get along with virtually anybody. As such, the Luminary would fit their attributes. Unrelated to the Dragon Quest XI protagonist of the same name, the Luminaries are known for their bombastic and style-like abilities, while using lots of healing and crowd control abilities to help their allies.

10 Aries - Martial Artist

Born between the 21st of March and the 19th of Aprils, Aries are as energetic as they are courageous. Their incredible strength as people allows them to be quite charismatic, although they can be a bit rash when it comes to making decisions. What better to fit this mindset than the Martial Artist, who dish out lots of damage while also being one of the most agile vocations around. The only downside, of course, being their poor defence making them somewhat of a glass cannon.

9 Taurus - Merchant

Around the 20th of April and the 20th of May is when the Taurus are born in. Their practicality and hardworking spirits greatly make them valuable in the workforce. This has also made them quite reliable whenever dealing with material things like money. That perfectly fits the Merchant vocation. As they are primarily focused on the salesmanship of various items, they can get more gold after killing some monsters. What's more, they are a jack of all trades which allows them to be suitable anywhere.

8 Gemini - Sage

Born between the 21st of May to the 20th of June, Gemini's are very interesting people. At times they can be very gentle, but they're also quite thought-provoking. Sometimes they can be indecisive, but they make up for it with their adaptive capabilities. The Sage vocation is interesting as it normally forces a class to relearn everything in order to become a Sage. However, while a Sage starts out weak initially, they become one of the most powerful vocations in the series.

7 Cancer - Thief

Born between the 21st of June and the 22nd of July, Cancers are known for their incredible compassion. They like to stay close to people and can be quite tenacious as people. However, they can at times be a little moody while also having a manipulative streak. This fits the devious nature of the Thief vocation marvellously. Known for their deftness, they are incredibly agile and love to steal items. Although they might seem to be independent, they are incredibly useful when they are with a party of heroes.

6 Leo - Warrior

Born between the 23rd of July and the 22nd of August, Leos can be dramatic and even a little lazy at times, but they are almost unmatched when it comes to their strength. So it is only fair that the Warrior vocation is ideal for this zodiac. Not only are they steadfast with their companions, they are also an incredibly powerful tank that can help defend the entire party. Warriors tend to be one of the first characters to get the hits in.

5 Virgo - Mage

Born between the 23rd of August and the 22nd of September, the hardworking Virgo tends to have a deep connection to humanity while also being careful with everything. They can be fairly critical with others at times and tend to be very serious. The Mage, as such, would be a very viable candidate for the Virgo, as they're offensive people who tend to be quite critical in certain scenarios– focusing on both singular and multiple enemies.

4 Libra - Cleric

The gentle Libra is born between the 23rd of September and the 22nd of October, embodying the idea of pure harmony while averse to confrontation. They're diplomatic, but they can hold grudges at times and dislike any form of injustice. This passive nature is the perfect fit for the Cleric, who serves as an incredible healer. Despite being one of the best vocations in a variety of Dragon Quest games, their offensive might isn't too shabby.

3 Scorpio - Hero

The assertive Scorpio is born between the 23rd of October and the 21st of November. Their passionate personalities allow them to be very caring to their friends while being great leaders in general. Nothing would fit them better than the famous Heroes in Dragon Quest, who time and again save their worlds from the forces of evil. It also helps that they are a jack of all trades class, capable of being decent healers or offensive fighters.

2 Sagittarius - Gadabout

Born between the 22nd of November and the 21st of December, the Sagittarius are incredibly open-minded and they can at times have distinct opinions when it comes to serious talks. They are likewise known for loving any forms of distinct freedom.

The ultra-serious Capricorn are born between the 22nd of December and the 19th of January. Although they might have an unforgiving streak at times, they make up for it by being incredibly hard workers and make the most with what they have.
