Japanese fans of the Dragon Quest series will soon have the chance to experience the long-awaited Dragon Quest theme park attraction. Announced late last year, the attraction was scheduled to open at Nijigen no Mori, an anime-inspired amusement park located on Awaji Island.

Officially named Dragon Quest Island, the collaboration between Square and Nijigen no Mori was initially scheduled for an April 2021 opening. However, due to Japan's state of emergency, the attraction was delayed to May, a month later. With the COVID-19 situation in much better stability than last year, the grand opening for the attraction comes included many perks for patient fans.

Fans of the Dragon Quest series who wish to purchase tickets to the Dragon Quest Island attraction are able to do so via the Nijigen no Mori website ahead of its grand opening date on Saturday, May 15th. There are three different tiers for the Dragon Quest Island attraction with the base attraction worth 3,400 JPY, allowing participants to experience the attraction for 2 hours.

The second tier, worth 5,400 JPY, will allow players to enter an hour-long sub-quest that involves joining the ranks of Robbin’ ‘Ood’s Merry Men. The final tier, worth 11,400 JPY or approximately $105 USD, will include the previous two tiers as well as an exclusive adventure book cover, a lanyard, and a shield backpack.

The delayed opening of the attraction affected another video game theme park attraction that same month, with Super Nintendo World currently closed until May 12th due to Japan's state of emergency. As the mandate lifts and conditions improve, fans of both Nintendo and Square will have a lot to look forward to involving outdoor activities and amusement parks.
