Dragon Quest 11 S has been out for more than a year now, meaning that most JRPG fans will probably have already completed it. What some might not realize, however, is that there's an entire third act that takes place after the credits have rolled. It's entirely optional, but can greatly extend the length of a playthrough, while also granting access to the game's true ending.

The story-related content alone adds on at least another five hours of playtime, but there are plenty of other side quests and activities to keep players busy for far longer still. Completing all of the post-game content found in Act 3 of Dragon Quest 11 S can take well over 30 hours, giving players plenty of time to bid a proper farewell to the Hero and the wonderful world of Erdrea.

Many consider the series' most recent entry to be the pick of the bunch and it's difficult to argue too much with that assessment due to everything that the game has to offer. With Dragon Quest 12 having recently been announced and an offline version of Dragon Quest 10 finally making its way to western shores, it's an exciting time to be a fan of the franchise, but also a great time to find out what all of the fuss is about. With that in mind, Dragon Quest 11 is probably the best place to start, but finishing the title will take quite some time due to all of its post-game content.

10 Mop Up Any Remaining Side Quests

Quite a few of the side quests in Dragon Quest 11 S aren't exactly riveting and some can be downright frustrating due to their heavy reliance on luck. Even so, those striving for 100% completion will need to tackle them all at some point, so many opt to get started on them as early as possible in order to avoid being overwhelmed later on in the game.

Additional side quests will start to appear thick and fast once players reach Act 3 and those who've been slacking may suddenly find themselves with a little too much on their plate. That said, taking them on at higher levels can make some of the quests considerably easier, so there are some benefits to saving them all for the post-game.

9 Reach Level 99

Some of the post-game content in Dragon Quest 11 brings with it a massive spike in difficulty, which can, in turn, make leveling up a necessity for those hoping to survive it. Thankfully, more quests, bosses, and other encounters become available in Act 3 to help players reach the maximum level a lot faster, although they'll still need to work hard to hit level 99.

The best enemies to farm for XP are metal Slimes, which can be found in a variety of places. Unfortunately, however, they have a tendency to run away, so it can help to have a speedy character like Erik or Jade in the party while farming. It's also possible to summon metal Slimes using the Pep ability Electro Light, although players will need to have the Hero, Jade, and Sylvando in the party and get them all pepped up at the same time to do so.

8 Collect All Of The Mini Medals

Finding all of the Mini Medals can quickly become overwhelming, as they're hidden in some of the most obscure nooks and crannies throughout Erdrea. Players will need to find and collect 110 of them to complete the game's sticker book, but will be regularly rewarded as they start to complete pages.

These rewards are definitely worth the effort as they include some of the game's most powerful armor and weapons. There's also an essential recipe book that's used for crafting the game's fun-sized portable forge. It won't be easy, but if players are aware of their surroundings, they shouldn't have to go too far out of their way to find them all.

7 Unlock All Of The Ultimate Key Doors

Observant players will likely have spotted some of the many locked doors as they made their way through the game's first two acts. Hopefully, they'll be able to remember where some of them are when they reach the post-game, as in Act 3, they'll acquire the Ultimate Key which can be used to finally unlock these mysterious doors.

Each one contains amazing equipment, which can be incredibly useful when taking on some of the harder post-game content. Finding them all will likely mean searching through every location in the game again though, so it really does help to make a mental note of where they all are the first time around. Either that or use a guide.

6 Forge The Supreme Sword Of Light... Again

After playing through the first few acts, it can be difficult to forget what a huge deal the Supreme Sword of Light is to the plot. During Act 3, however, players are given an opportunity to forge another one, allowing them to dual-wield the two blades in certain situations. It's once again a rather lengthy process, though.

Whether or not it's really worth the hassle is entirely dependent on the Hero's build, with those who invested their points into the two-handed sword skill tree likely having very little use for the second sword. Respeccing the character's skills is always an option, though, which can allow players to dive into the dual wield tree fairly easily.

5 Get The Conch From The Sea Queen

Getting the Conch from the sea queen is pretty vital as it narrows down the locations of all of the significant Act 3 quests. Of course, players can still find them by themselves with a little extra effort, but the Conch will pinpoint more or less exactly where they are, which can save a lot of time. Sadly, however, getting the Conch is no simple feat.

Nautica's Sea Queen gives will ask the Hero to defeat a terrible monster that is plaguing her home. Upon besting the vile and challenging creature, though, the player will receive the Sea Queen's Conch as a reward. Once again, this is entirely optional, but given that the Sea Queen saved the Hero's life earlier on, returning the favor seems somewhat fair.

4 Go On a Tour Of Erdrea

This one goes hand in hand with a lot of the other post-game tasks, due to there being new stuff to find in more or less every location. Even if players have no more quests to complete, doors to unlock, or crossbow targets to hunt, though, it can still be worthwhile to revisit everywhere on the map for the additional treasure and world-building opportunities.

Speaking to all of the game's NPCs again will provide new dialogue and additional information about Erdrea and its inhabitants. Dragon Quest 11 easily matches games like Final Fantasy in terms of its size and scope and arguably provides a lot more depth when it comes to the non-player characters that the Hero can interact with.

3 Complete The Wheel Of Harma Trials

Some of the Wheel of Harma Trials can actually be attempted before players reach Act 3, although completing them this early will be incredibly difficult. The aim is to defeat all of the enemies within a certain number of moves, with quicker kills typically yielding better rewards. As a nice bonus, completing the highest tier will unlock all of the rewards, meaning that each trial need only be completed once if players are efficient enough.

However, the first time that players face these trials, getting a victory can be incredibly challenging, let alone unlocking all of the rewards. After mastering the game's excellent combat system and finishing the fifth and final trial, however, players will acquire a special recipe that will allow them to forge the best two-handed greatsword in the game. For that alone, it's definitely worth the effort.

2 Rebuild Cobblestone

During the events of the game's main story, Cobblestone, the place where the Hero was raised, is attacked and badly damaged. It is then left in disrepair as the party head off to save the world, effectively leaving the Hero without a home to return to. In the post-game, however, Cobblestone can be rebuilt to its former glory.

To repair the town, players will first need to find four special NPCs and complete a number of tasks to get them on board. Once they've all been convinced to help out, shops will start to reopen and will sell powerful equipment that isn't available anywhere else in the game. Rebuilding the town also leads to a more intimate relationship with the Hero's childhood sweetheart, Gemma.

1 Visit Drustan's Labyrinth

Out of all the optional quests available, this is the most important one by far. Upon completing the three trials of Drustan's Labyrinth, the Hero will be able to make a single wish and can repeat this process up to five times. This means completionists are going to have to work pretty hard if they want to make all five of the Hero's wishes come true.

All five of these wishes have significant value, but one, in particular, holds a lot more weight than the others. After rebuilding Cobblestone, the hero is able to wish to marry his true love, Gemma. Their love then serves as a beacon of light that shines bright against the darkness that has held Erdrea in its clutches for far too long.
