With almost a year passing by since Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age was officially confirmed for release in North America, Hokuto Okamoto, the game’s producer, has officially announced the release date of the anticipated game.

After only being available in Japan, Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be releasing exclusively on PS4 and Steam in North America on September 4, 2018. Okamoto gave a statement saying that this title serves as a “new beginning,” even though this is the latest installment in the franchise. Okamoto also says, “[Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age] feels both nostalgic and new,” which should entice old fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Fans of the series are seemingly excited about this announcement, as it has been quite some time since the initial screenshots for the game were released. This title has been received “quite favorably in Japan,” so it makes sense to have a release for players in North America.

Hokuto Okamoto states that “the game’s scenario amounts to one of the most epic narratives in the series,” which will give players a lot to look forward to. Okamoto says this time and care “doesn’t end with localization,” as the accessibility for North American players seems to be a top priority for this release. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will feature voice-overs and adjustments to the UI design, which include the in-game menus. Adjusting these menus will make the UI and weapon types a little easier to read in English, as shown below.

Players can share the excitement with Hokuto Okamoto, as he says he is “especially excited about hearing what kind of sentiment and impressions [players] overseas will have towards the game.” Eager players can head over to the PlayStation Store to pre-order the game before its launch date. When players preorder they will receive “The Legend Reborn” theme as an instant reward, as well as in-game DLC items such as Vest for Success, Seed of Skill x15, and Uber Agate of Evolution x3. These items seem helpful to players in-game, but won’t be available until the game launches.
