Dragon Quest 11 has been available in Japan since last year, but the critically-acclaimed and high-selling JRPG has yet to release in other regions. In fact, Square Enix has barely shown the English version of the game so far, but fans finally got an extended look at it during the company's E3 2018 press conference earlier today.

Dragon Quest 11 was one of the games Square Enix chose to feature at its E3 2018 press conference, releasing a stunning new story trailer that sets stage for the massive JRPG. The story trailer highlights a number of the party members players will meet and journey with throughout the game, and also shines a light on some of the monsters and villains players will face off against as well.

While Dragon Quest 11 doesn't feature a completely open world, this new trailer shows that players will have a lot of freedom when they're out exploring. Furthermore, players will be able to explore the world on foot as well as horseback, and this trailer even shows some of the horse riding gameplay in action.

It's true that this new Dragon Quest 11 trailer is mostly focused on story, but it does show off some gameplay. Besides the aforementioned horse riding and exploration, we also get a look at the game's combat. For example, we see the player character utilize a variety of special sword techniques against some classic Dragon Quest series monsters, and we see other characters engage in some combat as well.

At one point in the trailer, we see some townspeople help take down a dragon using crossbows, though this particular section seemed to be a cut-scene. It's worth noting that players will also be able to ride dragons in Dragon Quest 11, so perhaps this is one method of obtaining them. Luckily, western audiences won't have to wait too much longer to learn more about Dragon Quest 11 and have any questions about the game answered, as it's set to launch in just a few months.

Dragon Quest 11 launches on September 4 for PC and PS4. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch, and a 3DS version is available in Japan.
