In just one day, Dragon Ball fans will be able to play through the most ambitious retelling of the DBZ story yet through Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. One lucky fan, however, will get to experience the game before many others, as he managed to purchase it from his local Walmart before its official release.
Technically, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases on January 17, 2020, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For B-Ro_1995 on Reddit, however, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot released January 15, 2020.
B-Ro_1995 posted an image displaying his installation of the game onto his PlayStation 4. From the way he words his post, his Walmart wasn't even able to properly ring up the game. The cashier had to manually enter the barcode number to make the transaction go through. It looks like the store didn't know that the game wasn't supposed to be in circulation yet.
Obviously, this means Walmart broke the game's street date, which the store has a history of doing. Normally, though, when left unchecked, breaking a game's street date can be kind of frustrating for the fans that end up left out, as spoilers can and will make their way onto the internet. Luckily, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot features an overall familiar story, and this incident seems to be isolated, as no one else has reported being able to buy the game.
B-Ro_1995, specifically, posted his jackpot onto the PS4 subreddit, and in a day, the post racked in over 30,000 upvotes. No one in the comments mentioned anything about buying the game themselves. But they did congratulate B-Ro_1995 for his win and reminisced about their own moments of being able to buy a game early.
Still, should Bandai Namco catch wind of this, B-Ro_1995's Walmart may end up with a fine. With that in mind, some fans never know: they too may be able to head out to their local Walmart to purchase the game right now. Even if their Walmart's happen to care enough to wait until the release date, there's only one day left, so its no real loss.
