Not too long ago, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gave fans of the franchise their first look at Super Saiyan 3 Goku and Super Vegito. It's confirmed that both will be playable to some capacity, but due to the restrictions on chronological events in the show, many are wondering exactly how much each character will be playable. For fans of SS3 Goku, it's likely that his major fights with each Buu form will be playable, as well as some potential end-of-game sidequests where they could flex their muscles. However, Super Vegito isn't so simple.

In the anime, Super Vegito forms as the result of a fusion between Goku and Vegeta, with the latter's reluctance being paramount. Vegeta relents after learning what has happened to his family and eventually uses the Potara rings with Goku to become Vegito. In this form, he is one of the most powerful characters in Dragon Ball Z, complete with characteristics of both Saiyans, which should lead to some interesting moments in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

He then faces Super Buu who has consumed Adult Gohan and practically wipes the floor with him. It is said that, had he wanted, Vegito could have destroyed Super Buu inatantly. Vegito toys with Super Buu for a strategic reason, even fighting him after being turned into a piece of candy. Super Buu eventually absorbs Vegito, which separates the two from each other, but Vegito planned this as a way to save the others. It's during this that Vegeta destroys his Potara ring, refusing to do the transformation again. However, Vegeta also inadvertently turns Super Buu into Kid Buu, leading toward the final arc of the overall Majin Buu Saga.

Vegeta and Goku are given the option to become Vegito again later, but Goku refuses on the grounds that he needs to fight solo and on his pride as a Saiyan. Vegeta is proud of the answer, as the two prepare to face Kid Buu. And that's all the presence Super Vegito has in Dragon Ball Z and likely all players can reasonably expect of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Because of the tense moment and the utter destruction of the Earth, it seems unlikely that there will be any side quests for Super Vegito (though, of course, this cannot be completely ruled out).

The best bet is that players will be able to play as Super Vegito in some intense fights against Super Buu...and perhaps even a short stint fighting him as Candy-Vegito. It's a hilarious moment in Dragon Ball Z that would be fun to play, even if for a short time. But this seems to be the limit of what Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot players can expect for the character.

Of course, this completely changes if Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot somehow includes Dragon Ball Super. There's no real indication that there will be a deep dive into the latest iteration of the franchise, but Vegito returns in the Future Trunks saga. Its inclusion seems incredibly unlikely, though.

As it stands, players will seemingly only have a brief window and foray with playing Super Vegito, but if the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot team found a way to extend this even slightly, it'll likely be welcomed by fans. Until then, though, we can only wait and see.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 17, 2020.
