Recently, new information came to light regarding Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's first DLC, which is now said to release this spring, and it is somewhat surprising. While leaks beforehand led many to believe that it would adapt the Gods of the Universe Z saga, it seems that the new DLC is a boiled down version that blurs the line with it and the God of Destruction Super saga. The publisher has now released some new Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot screenshots that seemingly indicate that this information is, more or less, accurate.

For those unaware, the DLC will introduce new skills to be unlocked, two new playable characters (not transformations as far as has been revealed) in the form of Super Saiyan God Goku and Vegeta. The reason may seemingly be that they will eventually be able to transform into Super Saiyan Blue only on this character, but regardless, it will be unlocked via training sessions with Whis. Battling the Angel will also unlock the ability to battle Beerus, who seems like another endgame boss similar to Bonyu.

As seen below, most of these elements are confirmed in these new screenshots. Alongside some interesting battles such as Super Saiyan God Goku vs. Raditz and Super Saiyan God Vegeta vs. Dodoria, the new menu shots showcase a little bit of how this may work. Namely, it seems like it will be selected from the Add-On addition to the menu, and Whis' training shows a level requirement, not unlike the training room in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Some screenshots show a battle against Beerus, whereas there's also a conversation about battling Beerus on display. This suggests that a certain level of Whis' training has to be unlocked before he'll accept a challenge, which coincides with information revealed thus far, but one screenshot does show standard Goku vs. Beerus.

These new screenshots do pose an pretty interesting conundrum, though: it makes sense that the aforementioned battles can take place if this DBZ: Kakarot Super DLC can be completed before the main story, which is reportedly the case, but the level requirement on Whis is confusing.

Namely, players won't be level 25 before the Raditz fight, which would seemingly indicate that Super Saiyan God has to be the first unlock from Whis' training (beginner - level 5), and that is relatively low level. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Time Machine doesn't allow for certain elements to be taken back, so it's clear that this may be the case. But unlocking Super Saiyan God so easily well before the first Super Saiyan transformation is strange. Hopefully, more details will be forthcoming.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
