Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launched earlier this year to relatively positive reviews, with many fans of the long-running Dragon Ball Z franchise enjoying the action-RPG retelling of the classic anime/manga. In an effort to capitalize on the game's success, Bandai Namco Entertainment is releasing the first major DLC expansion for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot very soon, with the "A New Power Awakens (Part 1)" DLC launching next week.

Bandai Namco has revealed that the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Super DLC release date is Tuesday, April 28. The DLC is based on Dragon Ball Super, the anime/manga series that follows up Dragon Ball Z. In it, players will be able to unlock Super Saiyan God Vegeta and Super Saiyan God Goku, which they will be able to use in the extra-tough boss fight against Beerus, who is set to be the DLC's main antagonist.

The Beerus boss fight in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to be one of the toughest battles in the game yet, with even the game's producers struggling to win. Beerus will be set at level 250 during the fight, so it's going to be a significant challenge, even for fans who have already mastered the rest of the game.

Along with the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Super DLC release date, Bandai Namco also released four new screenshots of the game in action. These new images showcase a meeting between Goku, Vegeta, and Beerus, and also show the three of them doing battle. They should give fans a taste of what to expect from the DLC for when it launches next week.

In the meantime, it's clear by the DLC's title that Bandai Namco is planning to release more Dragon Ball Super DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot down the line. At some point, perhaps this will even include some Broly DLC, which would no doubt be hugely popular with fans of the franchise.

Whether or not Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot ever gets Broly DLC remains to be seen, but fans of the game at least have the Beerus DLC to look forward to next week. If it proves popular, one has to imagine that DLC for more Dragon Ball Super characters is in the cards, but fans will just have to stay tuned to find out.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
