After much anticipation, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has confirmed that its DLC, featuring content from Dragon Ball Super, will be releasing sometime this Spring. It appears that, so far, Kakarot's DLC has not been delayed by the Coronavirus, meaning fans should expect the DLC sometime in the next few months. That's still a lot of uncertainty for a season pass which has been shrouded in mystery for so long, so naturally many fans are looking for a more concrete release date. While an official release date doesn't exist yet, there is some pre-existing information to go on which can help make inferences about when the DLC will release.

For those unaware, credible Dragon Ball reporters Ken Xyro and Dragon Ball Hype recently revealed some information regarding the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Super DLC. Yesterday, more screenshots were shown featuring Super Saiyan God Vegeta and Super Saiyan God Goku in action with foes like Raditz, Dodoria, and even Whis. Most of this was already known to be included in the DLC, but it does confirm a few things, like how the training with Whis will indeed take the form of training modules players have already seen in the base game.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Updates

Since Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot hasn't had any major releases yet, it is mostly impossible to try and guess at the first DLC release based on anything like that. That said, the game has received 6 updates since release, both big and small, and their release dates hint at some sort of a pattern for content. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Version 1.01, 1.02, and 1.03 were actually bundled together as a day one patch, releasing on January 16th alongside the full game. This relatively large patch dropped on a Thursday, and begins the pattern found throughout the rest of the updates.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's version 1.04 improved loading times, along with some other quality of life changes, a desperately needed improvement as the game suffered from incredibly long load screens up until this point. This patch released 2 weeks after the games release on Thursday, January 30th. The next patch, Version 1.05, released on Thursday, March 5th, and although it was a relatively small update, featuring mostly bug fixes and minor adjustments, it fits in the pattern quite nicely. Finally, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's latest update, version 1.06, adds the time machine but breaks the pattern, releasing on March 20th, a Friday.

DBZ: Kakarot DLC Releases Spring 2020

Typically, developers give broad ranges like this when the release date isn't one hundred percent decided on, so it has wiggle room when creating the content. That said, it is highly unlikely that the DLC will release in March, given that there has been only one or two content updates in each month so far and March is already almost over. Spring 2020 could also include April, May, and even the first few weeks of June, but it is likely that the DLC will release well before June. Although this doesn't narrow things down as much as some fans would like, it's certainly a start.

The DLC will likely release on a Thursday in either late April or May, but could possibly drop on a Friday like the time machine update. With that in mind, possible dates for the DLC include April 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th, or May 7th, 14th, 21st, or 28th. Sometime in late April seems the most probable, so April 23rd or 30th is a solid possibility. Of course, this is all just conjecture, and it is always possible that CyberConnect2 releases Kakarot's Super DLC on a random Monday, but given what is known so far, it seems unlikely.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
