Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot fans look ever towards the future, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the third and final DLC of the season pass. At the moment, it's still a complete mystery what this season pass has in store for fans, but even that hasn't stopped them from looking even further ahead. Given that the first two DLCs have only taken fans up through the events of Resurrection F, there's a very real possibility that a second season pass may release, but it would need to be different from the first in a few key ways.
For those that haven't kept up with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the title recently celebrated its one year anniversary. Despite this, Bandai Namco Entertainment didn't do anything celebratory in game or reveal any news about the upcoming DLC, leaving fans in the dark as usual. DLC 3 is going to wrap up the first season pass, but depending on what content it covers, there might be an entirely new season pass to follow up this one. For the most part, this is largely dependent on what Dragon Ball story DLC 3 adapts into Kakarot, and there are really only four options remaining at this point.
DBZ: Kakarot DLC 3 and Season Pass 2
The first two DLCs in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot covered the events of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, bringing characters from Dragon Ball Super into the fold including Beerus, Whis, and Golden Frieza. It also allowed players to train and level up in order to unlock new forms for both Goku and Vegeta, those being the powerful and coveted Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue forms. Looking forward, DLC 3 will either continue down the story of Dragon Ball Super and introduce Hit and the Universe 6 Saga, skip that story and move straight into Zamasu and the Future Trunks Saga, jump forward to the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, or tell an original story altogether.
If Bandai Namco decides to adapt the Future Trunks Saga or the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie next, it seems probable that there won't be another season pass. These two stories make for good stopping points in terms of the game, and it would make sense to leave them for another season pass. On the other hand, if Bandai Namco opts to continue chronologically with the Universe 6 Saga or tell an original story, then a second season pass doesn't seem as unlikely.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Season Pass 2 Content
Assuming the second season pass is structured in the same way as the first, fans could expect to see two boss battles and a story arc. If the first season pass finishes off with Hit and the Universe 6 Saga as many are expecting it to, then it seems obvious that season pass 2 will feature Future Trunks, the Tournament of Power, and the Broly movie. This would be a good way of taking Dragon Ball Super's six main stories and splitting them up into two sets of three for the season passes.
It's also possible that more original content will be featured in a second season pass, bringing the likes of Bonyu, Android 21, Mira, and Towa back into relevance again. Most of these characters played very minor roles in the main story despite how excited fans were at their inclusion, so it would be great to see them get more of a spotlight again. Although it's unlikely, there's even potential for the Moro arc that just wrapped up in the manga to make its way to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, possibly appearing there before he even debuts in the anime.
DBZ: Kakarot - Learning From Season Pass Mistakes
The key to any of this working for Bandai Namco is to learn from the mistakes of the current season pass. While most fans are happy with the additional content overall, there is a lot of discontent with the way Bandai Namco has handled communication over the last year. Many fans purchased the season pass before the game came out in January of 2020 and still don't know everything that they've paid for, and Bandai Namco hasn't made any attempt to address this issue. Fans will definitely be more cautious about doing that again.
Admittedly, it's entirely possible that the COVID-19 pandemic slowed down development of the DLC packages and are the reason why fans have had to wait so long for each one, but that doesn't explain the lack of communication. Most are extremely understanding when it comes to setbacks caused by COVID-19, so there doesn't seem to be any reason why Bandai Namco wouldn't just tell fans if that's what's happening. If the slow DLC pace and the lack of communication were truly caused by this, then a second season pass would likely release much quicker as the vaccine starts to make its way around the world.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Transformations
As usual, one of the most exciting things about new Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC is the introduction of new transformations. Fans already have access to both Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue, but there are still other forms that could be introduced in further DLC. For Goku, the Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken form is used during the Universe 6 Saga, and he relies on it heavily throughout the rest of the anime. In Vegeta's case, Super Saiyan Blue Evolution is said to be about the same strength but isn't unlocked until the Tournament of Power.
Of course it doesn't stop there. If Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot adapts the Tournament of Power, that would inevitably mean Goku unlocking Ultra Instinct. This incredible power up is a huge fan favorite at this point, and the Moro arc lets fans see more of it as Goku learns to master its nuances. It's not clear how this technique would work when compared to the other transformations since it's so different, but at the very least it would add a 300% boost to damage if it's just one step above Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken.
