At the moment, fans of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are still eagerly awaiting news about the third DLC in the game's season pass, but many are looking beyond that. Regardless of what Kakarot DLC 3 chooses to adapt, it remains uncertain whether or not they'll be another season pass for the game after this. If Bandai Namco ends it after this first season pass, there's a lot of content from Dragon Ball Super that will ultimately be skipped over. One of the major benefits of adapting more arcs from Dragon Ball Super is the potential for the game to add more playable characters to the mix.

For better or for worse, Dragon Ball Super levels the playing field between all the characters to a degree. It's clear that Goku and Vegeta are still the more powerful characters, but fans are treated to scenes where Krillin is nearly able to ring out a Super Saiyan Blue Goku, for example. Because of this, a lot of characters that were sidelined once the Super Saiyan transformation was introduced to the story are able to jump back in and make a difference, marking the perfect opportunity for Bandai Namco to add some new playable characters to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Tournament of Power

Dragon Ball Super: Kakarot Playable Characters

For the most part, Goku and Vegeta run the show in Dragon Ball Super, but the Tournament of Power arc changed that a bit. Universe 7 has to choose ten of their strongest warriors to participate in this battle royale, and each of these fighters gets a chance to shine during the tournament. While there are plenty of characters that fans would absolutely love to see made playable, there are three in particular on this team that deserve some special treatment in terms of being made playable.

Most of the entrants that makes up Universe 7's team are either already playable or already in the game as support characters. This holds true for Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin, Android 18, Tien. It would be great to see some of these support characters given the role of playable character, but it seems unlikely given how Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has handled their development thus far, and most of them are a far cry away from being able to hold a candle to Super Saiyan Blue. For some other members of the team, that's not really true, and they'd actually be perfect candidates for playable characters.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Master Roshi

Master Roshi DBZ: Kakarot Support Character DLC 2

A fan favorite character that's been around since Dragon Ball, Master Roshi caused a lot of excitement when he was added to Dragon Ball FighterZ and there would probably be a similar response in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. To say he's anywhere near the level of Super Saiyan Blue would be a lie, but his portrayal in Dragon Ball Super is definitely on par with other playable characters like Gohan and Piccolo. Master Roshi's unique moveset and access to a transformation would help him to fit in well with the other playable characters in the game.

Astute fans might have noticed that every playable character in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has access to a transformation, with the Saiyans all having Super Saiyan and Piccolo having Namekian Fusion. Master Roshi's bulk up transformation could work in a similar way to these and would help to put him on par with the others. Though he'd have access to classic techniques like the Kamehameha, he could also make use of unique attacks such as the Evil Containment Wave. Finally, his fighting style would likely be vastly different from other characters, and would make for an interesting change of pace.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Golden Frieza

Ever since it was revealed that DLC 2 would adapt the Resurrection F story, fans have been wondering if Golden Frieza would be made playable in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. At the moment, this doesn't seem to be the case, as he is currently relegated to full time villain duty, but there's plenty of potential for this in the future. Though he's still not a hero, Frieza fights side by side with Goku in the Tournament of Power, and his Golden Form is equal in power to the Super Saiyan Blue transformation.

If CyberConnect2 didn't want to code in all of Frieza's forms in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, they could just allow players to start in Final Form and offer one transformation, the Golden Form. This would likely boost the evil emperor's stats by 250% just like Super Saiyan Blue does. In terms of techniques, many of them are already in the game from Frieza's boss fight, but he would have access to his iconic moves like Death Beam, Death Ball, Death Slicer, and more. Despite being wholeheartedly evil, or perhaps because of it, fans love Frieza and would be thrilled to see him included as a playable character.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Android 17

Android 17

Though this may come as a surprise to those that didn't watch all of Dragon Ball Super, Android 17 makes a surprise return during the Tournament of Power arc and reveals that he's had a massive power boost. Despite losing to the power of Super Saiyan 2 in the Cell Saga, Android 17 goes toe to toe with Super Saiyan Blue Goku, and since this fight is cut short, fans still don't know the true extent of his power. This character doesn't have any transformations, but as an android he doesn't really need any.

One unique feature of playing an android is that they have limitless energy reserves, meaning they theoretically could never run out of Ki. In other Dragon Ball games this is represented in various different ways, but it would be a distinguishing feature of the character regardless. Android 17's attacks are also unique from all other characters in the game, but inspiration could easily be drawn from his sister's, Android 18, support character moveset. Any or all of these three characters would make great additions to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's stagnant roster of playable characters.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
