Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot recently announced that it was getting PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside new content as part of its season pass 2, but it may not end there. Many fans know that the first DLC is based on the Bardock Saga, but it's the first of three coming in 2023. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, as it may have surprised many fans who thought the game was done and over with.

Moreover, recent rumors suggest that Season Pass 2 won't be the final selection of DLC too. According to Twitter user @DbsHype, who has accurately reported on Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and related content in the past, this is just the start of a whole slew of DLC. Dragon Ball GT may not be high on that list, if there is a list, as it is perhaps the least popular selection of Dragon Ball content, but it does have its fans. And the language would imply that, sooner or later, perhaps it will come to the game too.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Could be the Xenoverse 2 of RPGs

Dragon Ball - Goku Super Saiyan 4

More specifically, DbsHype stated that multiple DLCs were coming to the game "covering all kinds of different storylines" and states that it's essentially getting the Xenoverse 2 DLC treatment. Fans of the fighting game know that its character roster has continuously updated since launch, including yes, with Dragon Ball GT characters. This is exciting for fans, as it means the RPG adventure of Goku's journey isn't over.

However, it's very likely that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot focuses on missing DBZ storylines for the time being, as there is plenty of content still missing from the game. Unless it were to make a proper sequel like Dragon Ball Super: Kakarot or Dragon Ball GT: Kakarot, it makes the most sense to slowly work through this content and be as comprehensive as possible. Perhaps Bandai Namco's idea is to make it the most comprehensive game of Goku's life story, and that in and of itself is a big draw for fans to keep coming back. Waiting for and playing through a full game based on Super or GT is certainly welcome, but parsing that out through DLC makes sense too.

After all, there would no doubt be temptation to go to Super once DBZ is finished in Kakarot. It's going to take time to finish DBZ anyway, but GT could be a good segue between the two since Dragon Ball Super's storyline is still ongoing. It's still a wait for any content outside the DBZ sphere, but fingers crossed that fans of GT aren't ignored as this game expands its scope.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will launch on January 13, 2023.
