CyberConnect 2 is clearly a busy beaver. Not only did the new Demon Slayer game come out in October 2021, but the company issued quite a few updates for the new year. First off is a new game announcement in February, with many believing that it is set to launch this summer. Secondly, CyberConnect2 confirmed Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will continue its DLC run in 2022, and thirdly, there was a special message regarding Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Of all of this, perhaps the latter is the most mysterious. The new game could be anything, with many fans clamoring for a new Naruto game or a legitimate Dragon Ball Super game, but the exact wording of the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot message seemingly implies that new DLC or something more is coming.

The release of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s Trunks DLC was touted as the last DLC for the game, that’s true, but wording from Producer Hashino (as highlighted by YouTuber Dmgaming) in the aforementioned special message could imply otherwise. Producer Hashino comments that 2021 saw the release of the “Third DLC,” that everyone on the team will be “giving it their all again this year,” and that hopes fans will join him “for a great 2022 with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.”

These may be small distinctions and it cannot be ignored that something could be lost in translation, but third DLC does not mean final DLC. Furthermore, the only real content known to be in development for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the Switch version’s Card Warriors and that doesn’t really back up the “giving it their all” statement. Hashino also emphasizes DBZ: Kakarot at the end, suggesting the team is working on new content for the game. Arguably, the most logical deduction is more DLC, perhaps in the form of Dragon Ball Super content or Dragon Ball movies content.

In short, there definitely seems to be more content in the works for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot this year, but Dmgaming’s analysis of the situation goes a step further. He points out that the DBZ: Kakarot producer doesn’t name DLC, while the Xenoverse 2 producer does. It could be because the former has supposedly already had its “final” DLC, while more for Xenoverse 2 is no surprise. Or, it could mean something bigger than just another DLC is in the works.

It’s tinfoil hat territory, but this could mean a Dragon Ball Super sequel to Kakarot is in the works, which could connect dots with the new game announcement though Hashino name drops DBZ: Kakarot specifically. Steam files could suggest that it’s not just one DLC, but a completely new Season Pass for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. It could even be true-to-form PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. There are quite a few possibilities, but at the end of the day, it seems Dragon Ball Z fans could be eating good in 2022.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
